I interviewed with Kelly Education and was offered a position almost immediately, but the recruiter was very reluctant to tell me the compensation to work as a substitute teacher. After twisting Alison Kasterko, the main recruiter’s, arm, she revealed that schools paid a day-to-day rate of $21-26 an hour. I told her that rate is grossly inadequately underpaying and insulting, especially living in Los Angeles County and to please not waste my time unless her company was going to compensate me at least $31.50\hr, which is my current wage to do the same exact job, which she agreed to. Approximately a month ago Alison Kasterko emailed me to inform me one of the schools was paying $33-38/hr, which was a dream come true. After completing the first steps of the onboarding process, I noticed that the school that Alison said paid $33/hr she offered me actually only paid $31.66. I tried to call Alison but she was on vacation and couldn’t get a hold of her for over a week in what felt like a runaround. When I finally got a hold of Alison, the $33/hr position was no longer available; I was lied to and coerced to reapply to the company under false pretenses.

Do not waste your time with this company. After the initial interview, I gave Alison very useful constructive criticism about how she conducts interviews as she didn’t come off convincing in the script she is obviously reading and gives off the impression that she doesn’t believe in her company and doesn’t want to be there, and this is their main recruiter.

Kelly is a wonderful company with very nice staff! They will always make sure that you have a substitute position to take. There are also many schools all over Los Angeles that you can choose to work at. Kelly has many resources that you can access. You get emailed tips and advice and there are videos that you can access online.

Kelly offers benefits, such as discounted amusement park tickets and more! If you are a substitute teacher, I highly recommend working with Kelly.

Kelly was a great company to work for! Good schools and great support! The only down thing was that it was hard to get jobs unless you downloaded the corresponding app ($50.00 per year). It was hard to find jobs on the website.
