As a parent, enrolling my kids in the Kudos Speech and Debate program has been one of the best decisions we've made for their academic and personal growth. Kudos provides a structured yet dynamic environment where my children not only learn the art of effective communication but also develop critical thinking skills and confidence to speak and present themsleves in the front of group people. I wholeheartedly recommend Kudos to any parent looking to empower their child with invaluable lifelong skills.

I have judged Kudos students in several competitions and was quite impressed. These students were amazing as they presented themselves as professional, articulate and confident. They were prepared and it was evident they had done excellent research as they argued their points.

I would recommend any parent to enroll their child in a Speech and Debate program at Kudos. The skill of being able to speak calmly and with confidence in front of a group of people is an important life tool. Children today need this type of skill which will benefit them in many ways as they become adults.

Be aware if you write a negative review that they will continue to harass you as to why they are right. I didn’t sign my son up for debate so that I would have to learn how to debate after the end of his classes.

Google is a public free speech forum where we are allowed to express our opinions of content or discontent.

My 8 yr old son attended the Walnut Kudos Speech and Debate camp this summer. Kudos allows no parent-teacher interaction/feedback and we are not allowed to observe any part of the class. You cannot tell until the end if there is a severe LEARNING ISSUE and you cannot protect your child from being BULLIED.

WEEK 1 - my son, who came out with an open scratch wound from another child, reported he was bullied by other kids right in front of the teacher who did nothing to stop them. Michael, the manager, guaranteed me that it would not happen again or there would be expulsion.

WEEK 2/3 - substitute teacher for two sessions (caused discontinuity in teaching)

WEEK 4 - we asked for feedback and Michael said he was doing "slightly above average."

WEEK 5 - my son and his friend reported bullying again. They were pushed against the wall, kicked, and hit by an older group of kids during AM and PM breaktime. When Michael was confronted, he claimed that our kids were lying (their count of the number of bullies was incorrect) and it did not happen (but he "was not sure" if the cameras were on). He was very defensive and did not mention his prior promise of expulsion since that would cost them tuition. I asked him again why there was physical contact between children under their supervision in a non-physical verbal class.
Michael brought up this week that my son was kicking the wall after being told to stop.

WEEK 6 - There was no kicking this week because we were able to talk to him at home.

Teacher Erin R evaluation's received 4 days after the end of camp:
"...struggled in class, distracted others, interrupt class, made class more difficult to manage, frequently refused to try, needs to adjust his behavior in order to really take in the materials being taught to him and learn the necessary skills."

We were also promised a recording of the last debate presentation which was never provided.

This feedback should have made it to the parents WAY before the end of the summer camp and lots of wasted time, money, and energy. If the teacher cannot adapt her teaching style to a variety of personalities and children for a small classroom setting, then she needs to go back to training. My child has an A in citizenship from his public school teacher who has to teach 26 kids all day long.

My son already did not want to go back to Kudos for fear of being bullied, and now reading the evaluation I would give Kudos 0 stars if I could for wasting our time. We commuted over 40 minutes each way to get to camp and had to kill time for 6 hours each Sunday. I will never be able to get those fifty hours of my life back that my son and I could have spent quality time with my son relaxing at home or attending a more useful class. If I had known this was a physical sparring debate camp, I would have sent my son in his taekwon do gear!
