I'm so happy that my daughter started this program even though she's in 6th grade. It is providing her the necessary foundation in Math and English that wasn't provided because of the pandemic. As the instructor of Kumon Math & Reading Center of Long Beach-Stearns, I am happy to say we do our best to ensure that your child would have an excellent learning experience at our center.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

We have been part of the Long Beach Stearns Kumon Family for about 4 years now and have been very happy with the growth and development of our children, who are currently 7 years old and 9 years old. My oldest son who is currently in 3rd grade began his Kumon journey when he was in Kindergarten.

We initially started him with Reading only in order to develop his Reading and Vocabulary, but, after a year, we transitioned him into both Math and Reading. During his time in Kumon, I can honestly say Kumon has helped him develop a strong vocabulary base and has allowed him to become a proficient reader and writer. One aspect of Kumon that I believe is most beneficial for the student is the development of the daily routine and discipline of completing the work packets. These type of study habits to finish these Kumon packets on time gradually becomes ingrained into their daily routine which helps to develop discipline and a strong work ethic, which eventually can carry on to other aspects of academic life.

Ms. Jila and her staff truly care about the academic success and learning of each child. Without reservation, I would recommend Kumon Long Beach Stearns for your child.

My kids have been coming to this Kumon center for the past 4 years. Of course the program is great. And everyone at the center is very kind and supportive. This program has helped my kids to excel at school. Other friends who have been with Kumon longer have told me that you really see the benefit down the years. Also the constant weekly homework keeps their mind agile as opposed to watching TV or being on iPad. I recommend Kumon specially this Kumon with great management and kind staff.

Our family has had a very positive experience with Kumon and the Stearns Long Beach location. Kumon is a very effective curriculum that is executed at the Stearns Long Beach center with great care and kindness. I had previously observed how effective kumon was for a middle schooler I knew and sought it out when my own child needed extra help with basic math facts before the curriculum really sped up around multiplication in third grade. I've been thrilled with the way his number sense has developed along with his foundation in addition. It's also been an amazing exercise in discipline and the pay off of daily work towards a goal. The team of instructors administrators and assistants is caring and attentive. Five stars!
