I was a boarder here for 7 months, long enough to get to know everyone & watched diligently how things were ran.
The location is what makes the Ranch what it is, which is beautiful.
However,  management had made it a nightmare.
I pulled my horse out before the month was up due to strong concerns of neglect & abuse.
Due to flash flooding in my area during a heavy storm , I had missed 3 days with my horse. I arrived to the Ranch to find him like this. (Photos attached).. Terrible right ? Time stamp will show 3:30 pm , which should've been right after feeding. I have no idea how long he was left to stand in 15+ inches of muck.
As a new owner to this horse, I  was completely shocked & heartbroken to see my horse in these conditions.  My only thought was to get him out & fast. I texted Amy immediately requesting another clear stall , as there were many open, clearer stalls he could've been moved to prior to having to request it, had they cared or even noticed he was in distress.
The Ranch fed him, but didn't even look at him, as I've seen them do with other horses over the course of 7 months.
My horse is now being treated for an extreme case of Thrush. Never once did I recieve an explanation, apology or was even notified my horse was in distress.
Even though my phone # was taped near the bottom of the stall for instances such as this.
The Ranch itself sits on a hill & doesn't have a proper drainage system. My horse being on the end of the line recieved all of the other horse's muck & rainwater.
It had since taken them 3 weeks to clean out stalls as Terry cursed & slammed things around. What a peaceful place right?
Quite the contrary..
Furthermore, I had done approximately 2 lessons with Amy & she wacked my horse with her carrot stick in the face multiple times , I counted precisely 8.
I asked her the purpose of that & she stated he was not moving to her liking. The Clinton Anderson method is what they choose for training. But after a horse died at his seminar , I wouldn't put him or anyone who follows his method in charge of a house plant. I understand everyone trains their horse differently but hitting them just doesn't feel right to me. You judge for yourself.
Going off other reviews & Amy's responses to my concerns, Kyle Canyon has a very hard time accepting accountability & will make people look like they're the problem.. I however, was a good boarder. Respectful, paid every month on time & never complained. But I could no longer keep my mouth shut & I pulled my horse without a 30 day notice , leaving them 6 days of paid board. Amy chooses who she wants to be kind to. So much so , that I was charged $100 extra than the other boarders each month. Had no idea, until I heard others gossiping about what they pay & how even then, felt like they were getting scammed.
Rumor has it, that they're taking boarder's money & putting it into their own house down the road, building arenas & breeding horses while the Ranch itself is falling apart.
There are many other ranches nearby, where you can enjoy the great outdoors without the extra stress this Ranch will bring. I am so distraught with the treatment of my horse that I strongly suggest , that if you love your horse, you find another place to board.
I was afraid of what I was going to walk into every time I pulled into this place.
I now feel my horse's spirit is broken & I imagine it's going to take a long time with adequate training to get him out of this funk.
Im sure I will get a gaslighting response to this review , (which i will not read) as Amy has to have the last word.
But fortunately for me & you , proof of my experience of this Ranch is in the photos.
BOARDERS BEWARE.

I want to give a shout out for all the excellent work the owners and staff do at Kyle Canyon Ranch. I have had horses for near 40 years and have been boarding at the ranch for 3 years, since I moved here to Las Vegas and retired. With the help of Terry and Amy, I found a great equine match for my journey forward as an older adult! Amy is a great trainer for both horse and human, emphasizing safety and fun while increasing your skill base! I drive 40 minutes from down near Southpoint Casino at least three times a week. I researched before moving here, all around the valley, and have not been disappointed at Kyle Canyon Ranch. The best barn is always worth the extra effort! I moved from Washington State. The desert here is a new and different environment for me. We do have seasonal rains and monsoons in the late summer. The ground drys up fast here! Terry and Amy are on top of things no matter what the situation. After a recent surprise WEEK of seasonal rain, which left some mud, they were scraping all the stalls to facilitate drainage, which only took another day or two. Quite different than 8 months of rain, snow, and mud where I lived in Spokane! We have a great community of boarders, the best I've been in. If you are looking for a place with a great on-sight trainer, knowledgable in many disciplines, a great horse community, and unlimited trail riding into the Red Rock area, you won't be disappointed!

Highly recommend lessons with Amy! I started my lessons with NO riding experience whatsoever, it was just something I wanted to take up. I've loved and grown in my lessons to where I feel so confident now. So confident that I decided I wanted my own horse and Amy helped me find him too. This is also a great place to board - everyone is so friendly and so many accessible trails. Can't say enough good things!

This review is honestly very overdue but just wanted to give a shout out of how amazing my experience has been here. I’ve been a boarder and taken lessons with Amy for over 2 years now and it’s been awesome! I have a very large and somewhat temperamental at times OTTB that I have had for almost 8 years that is the definition of a hard keeper and I have been super happy with how well he has done here. Not only have we come super far with working out behavioral problems that we have struggled with for years but I have noticed a relaxation and happiness with him I’ve never seen before. The facility is clean, has plenty of places to turn out, tack up/groom and ride. I’m contacted immediately if there are any concerns with my boy and if there are ever any issues with anything it is resolved quickly. Would highly recommend Kyle Canyon Ranch if you are looking for a quiet place to board that offers trails and lessons.

Dear Desert Sunflower
I too love my horses endlessly. They are my beacon of light and fill might heart and soul with love. I would like to take the opportunity and respond to your review below. Nevada is the driest state in the US although it sure didn’t seem like it this month. We had torrential rain amounts during these past few weeks. We unfortunately cannot prevent the weather. The rain that lasted four days made the ground very wet and muddy. It was something else I know.. I have been at Kyle Canyon Ranch for three and halve years. I come every day, seven days a week. I have been through winter ice, summer heat and strong winds. None of these things are controllable or preventable by anyone. When it rained, I helped dig trenches to reroute water. Where were you? I have never met you or spoken with you and again, I am there with my horses seven days a week. After the rain the ranch management and workers came in with tons of sand and bedding and redid all the stalls. I was there, where were you? My horses are happy and doing extremely well being first trained by Amy then finished and maintained by me. I probably have the happiest and most well-behaved horses on the ranch currently. Amy has been my teacher for three and a halve years and still is as I take lessons two days a week for riding. She is the most selfless, experienced and hard-working trainer and ranch manager I have ever met. I love her dearly. As for Terry, he is a quiet man and I have never seen him curse or yell at anyone in the past three an halve years. It is my opinion as a doctor that your anger is projected onto people due to being upset about seeing your horse after the rain. I believe that you were upset because you are a first-time horse owner and your expectations of outdoor stalls are not realistic. I think it is immature not ever having addressed these issues with the people you are accusing in your review of wrongdoing. I simply find it passive aggressive. Lastly, I never met you but since I’m a tremendous horse lover I wish nothing but the best to you and that you and your horse have the happiest times from here on out.
Please also read this educational piece below and if you ever come across a situation or a problem again maybe taking the direct route and discussing it with the person(s) is a better way to go.
“Taking public jabs at others while avoiding personal confrontation is a hallmark of passive aggressive behavior. For many, it is also becoming a new social norm as more and more of our interpersonal communication takes place online instead of face to face. Passive aggression is deliberate and masked way of expressing feelings of anger. Through such actions as posting embarrassing photos on socialmedia and purposeful inactions such as failing to stop the spread of online gossip, digital communication has become the perfect medium for sugarcoated hostility.” Don’t’ do it be a better person 😊
