When my 7-year-old daughter & 5-year-old son started Taekwondo at ATA Laveen I wasn’t sure if they would take a liking to it enough to stick with it. After the first practice, my daughter immediately became obsessed with the moves and weapons. She teaches her friends and shows off her moves every chance she gets. She’s more confident, disciplined & looks forward to every practice. My son was slower to catch on, but even he poses & enjoys showing off. The moves are still difficult for him, but where he excels is in balance, flexibility & strength exercises. They both have drastically improved their focus, and athletic ability/ endurance, and because of the repetitive training have a better sense of their spatial & body awareness. All the instructors are excellent with kids, extremely patient, encouraging, knowledgeable, and quite literally masters of the craft. I’m so happy they found an outlet that challenges them mentally and physically and gives them skills that can easily carry over into their adult lives.

This review is long overdue.

In August 2021, my husband and I signed our then 5 ½-year-old daughter up to take classes at this location. At the time, we lived in Laveen, and we've since moved to Avondale, and let me tell you, the drive is worth it.

Fast forward, my husband and I are now students. I signed up in August 2022; he did in January 2023, and we love it! We also love the friendships we developed with other parents, who are also students. We spend a lot of time there with our children, so why not sign up and be active too?!

The instructors are fantastic, and the activities for all age groups are superb. i.e., ninja night, Thanksgiving workout, spirit week, Mother and Father's Day workout, to name a few.

Master Martínez gives insightful and thoughtful life lessons to consider at the end of class as we cool down.

Mr. Martínez is very helpful and calm; he is detailed in his teachings.

Mr. Kong-Sivert and Master Wilcox are awesome instructors; the kids love their energy.

Mrs. Olivas, makes sure parents know about upcoming events and constantly remind the kids/teens to thank their parents. She acknowledges parents' hard work and dedication to our children and the school. As she says, Taekwondo is a journey, and we as parents are on that journey with our children by being at every practice, every tournament, every graduation, etc.

The appreciation and recognition for parents from staff and instructors is top-tier!

Overall, this school has lovely staff, instructors, and a good community of parents.

Our daughter is now 7 ½ years old and has come a long way in her training. She wants to be both a veterinarian and a Taekwondo instructor someday. She is now a red belt, and we look forward to the day she's earned her black belt.

We are blessed to be apart of the ata family here in Laveen.. The growth in confidence and service in our children really show the true values of the school. My eldest has came out of her shell and progressed in school. Not only with her grades but with her willingness and strength in trying to sports. Confidence and respect core values..

This school in laveen is amazing. It's a fantastic way to teach discipline, focus, and physical fitness. It also helps with balance and coordination while instilling confidence and respect. Plus, it’s a lot of fun for kids to learn new techniques and earn belts as they progress.

Our daughter (7 yrs old) and son (5 yrs old) have grown significantly since starting with ATA Laveen. Their listening skills and attention to instruction has improved greatly due to the culture and practices done in class. The staff and fellow students have provided a wonderful environment for our children to gain confidence, create goals, and both train and demonstrate their abilities. This is a fantastic school with outstanding instructors who provide structure, leadership, guidance, and care. The masters of the school are brother and sister which creates a family setting from the start, which we love, and they are truly exceptional with kids and families. Their instructors are incredibly patient and make every student feel included and important. We have discovered our son has a lot of physical talents in terms of flexibility and strength that were hidden until going through this process. Our daughter has shown leaderships qualities and is very focused on succeeding. We love the improvement in communication and taking responsibility that has helped our whole family thanks to Laveen ATA. Highly recommend!

My grandson Mias has been enrolled for a little over 2 months and he LOVES class, and so do we! I’ve been consistently impressed on so many levels with this school. The structure and discipline and “respect” they teach and ask of these kids is what impresses me the most. I always come across students that are so polite, come and speak to me and shake my hand and it’s so impressive. It’s clear they play a large part in developing great kids in our community. I also appreciate their willingness to always answer questions, help teach, keep you informed and all while staying organized. There’s a lot of kids that come each week and each instructor knows the kids by name and helps keep a structured yet fun environment. Mias looks forward to every class and continuing to learn and grow with you. Thank you ATA Laveen!

We have been a part of ATA Laveen for over a year now and I can truly say it has been a great activity for myself and my family. We are a family of five ranging from Tiny Tiger curriculum to adult classes/sparring. All of us have enrolled and are trying to reach our black belt goal! ATA has been very attentive to our learning pace and has made it a great family activity! I highly encourage other parents to get on the mat with your kids so that you can see first hand the health and mental benefits that taekwondo can offer.
