Awesome place to get a haircut. If you're low on funds, they only charge $5. Obviously, the students cut your hair. I've been here twice and both times the students did a great job. Here are the times they cut hair.

Mondays: 10am-12:30pm
Tues-Thurs: 10am-12:30pm & 5:30pm-8pm.

Thanks to Master Academy, hundreds of students in our community of Boyle Heights / East LA were able to get their haircut just in time for the new school year. The students came to give free haircuts for my Senior Properties in Long Beach. The students did a great job with cutting hair when they showed up. On many occasions the residents was promised free haircuts, the Academy never showed up nor did their instructor Luis bothered to call to say they were not coming. It was always a communication problem... When trying to reach the instructor that directed the students to see if they were coming, I never got a response. I was ignored completely. Very unprofessional.. The haircuts was great, the communication with the instructor is disappointing and very unprofessional.

If you have time, patience and want to save money on a haircut, this is a good choice. I've gone here more than once. They do good work. It takes longer to get your haircut completed of course, because they're students. You have to understand they're learning and will take more time than someone who's a haircut veteran.
Can't say that I've ever had a bad haircut here. It's only $5. A regular barber shop will cost you probably $25. You save twenty bucks in exchange for a little bit more of your time.

I got probably a better cut here than at any other barber this side of LA, and by one of their students no less! Check it out and make sure you have some time on hand, and I promise you'll love what you see!

True story: I did A LOT of research on Barbers Schools in the area and Master Academy had the best reviews. I wanted the best training, education and instructors who actually cared. I also didn't want to finish school with ridiculous student loans to pay back. When I finally made a decision and went in to register, the class was already full. EVEN THOUGH the class was full they made a call to Omar the owner and he let me join the class and made it happen for me basically. BEST decision I have made in my life. The instructor Luis ( Guero ) from the morning english class, Omar the owner and Sonia the night instructor go ABOVE AND BEYOND the expectations to give you the confidence and skills to go out there and be the best you can be. From business advice to their own personal experiences these instructors and even some of the students guide you to make the best possible decisions for yourself. Thank you Master Academy for this life changing journey! LETS GET THIS SCHOOL TO A SOLID 5 star!
