Staff is really nice. They make u feel welcomed at this school. Everyone is treated equally with respect. I've been here from when they barely opened and all I can say is that it's been a good experience, you build a very good bond with most teachers.The teachers are very nice, goofy, funny, energetic, etc. Also at mater you matter:))

Hello!, I’m a student at Mater and I’d like to speak about a few things/problems. 1: Kids/Teachers are extremely rude. 2: The teachers get mad over the smallest things. 3: Kids cyber-bullying on TikTok, Instagram, etc. 4: People stealing other peoples belongings. 5: Racism. I can’t think of any more things/problems right now but I may right another review later or just edit this. You know what’s also kind of weird? The principal saying and telling other kids to say “I matter at mater” when you guys don’t even care about anyone but yourselves at this school and you guys are just extremely rude. 5 star school for what?

Not up to par. I have had my child here for 2 years and feel she is not where she should be academically. There are some great teachers that do truly care and some that could careless. Very unorganized school. I have offered to volunteer several times, took time out of my schedule and they didn't use me to my full potential. They wasted my time. People don't follow instructions here for drop off and pick up procedures. Every day the cross guard has to go to each car and tell them of the procedures even though there have been several emails sent out. The children's lives are in danger because some drop off in the middle of the street and in unauthorized areas. I see people every single day double parking and making U-turns in the school zone which is illegal! Needless to say this will be our last year here. This is a title one school which I was never aware of until well into the school year. Don't be fooled by the reviews for Mater Academy schools in Florida this is quite the opposite!!

Would not recommend this school to any prospective student who wants an engaging education that sets them up for success. You will be belittled, put down and targeted by the teachers. It's honestly hilarious to me, because this school put me back so far, because some teachers aren't even qualified to be teaching their subject. I hope they fixed that issue, but teachers such as Mr. Weiser, and Mr. Kirkwood etc. Made it so hard to actually learn; I basically got nothing out of my 6th and 7th grade years. Also put down and belittled by teachers such as Ms. Jansen and Mr. Bethel. And then the cherry on top, everyone in the front office said I had no chance to get into Advanced Technologies Academy, and the first day of drawing I got in. And then I got put down for so called being lucky and that other students should have gotten in, instead of me. And that I wont be able to succeed at A-TECH. Since my time at Mater I feel I have been surrounded by an accelerated education and I'm greatly succeeding with a 4.8 GPA currently at A-TECH and plan to show everyone at mater whoever put me down, belittled me, told me there was no way I could succeed by becoming as successful as I can be. To better summarize it, Mater is a toxic environment from the kids and staff and whenever you engage back you get put down. And is a terrible educational environment for any student that wants to get the most out of their education and not get held back.

School is not a good school at all teachers act like little kids and are mean to students. Never have I ever seen a school act so bad and I’ve seen public schools they give teachers to much leeway. Letting your kids go here is a mistake it’s worst then having them go to an actual public school.

Do not . I repeat do not take your kids to this school & especially let them play soccer for their current jv coach ( 2022)

During the semi finals of our soccer tournament, their coach cursed out the whole entire team BOTH TEAMs & the opposing coach.

When this concern was brought out to the current principal (2022) she simply stated " Thanks for your feed back"

Mind you , the principal was there as well as what it seemed as the whole admin team . They sat back and tolerated this monstrosity. If you're okay with someone belittle your children , and cursing them out , and treating them like low-lives then is is the perfect school for you !!

I urge you to to take your children elsewhere .

This school was amazing (key word was) this new generation is crazy, I have family members that go here and they tell me most of the things that happen here, which never happened when I went to this school. When I was in this school, I really liked it, I first went to this school in 3rd grade. Some of my favorite teachers where Ms.Sims, Mr.Whalum, Ms.Johnson, Mr.T, Ms.Kenyon both teacher and staff, Ms.H I forgot her name but she was my teacher in 5th grade she was the best, Mr.Ernts my robotics teacher he was a fun teacher, Ms.Martinez she was cool. And I think that's it but I feel like there's more but I forgot. Overall, most teachers here are great, good at teaching (especially Mr.Whalum) and have fun at the same time, I liked Mr.Whalums story's. I remember to not be a boyfriend because it ends with "end" and it will end. Mr.Whalums gets wife's, hahaha. The food here is good and healthy, nice, clean, and stable school. But again this new generation that is in Mater Academy now are not ok, the dances we used to have where so pretty and I really enjoyed them but they turned into... something. I didn't have a problem here at this school everyone is cool and you can talk to the teachers if you can, and that's it.

I moved my daughter here from Cynthia Cunningham Elementary and I believe it was the best decision I've made for her education thus far. She left the 3rd grade at Cunningham doing 3 digit addition and subtraction with a B-C average ( I blame this on the over crowded classes) to entering Mater Academy for her 4 grade and understanding algebra almost better than I do. She is also now a 4.0 student excelling in Math and Science since changing school. Last but certainly not least, Mrs. Johnson is Awesome!!!!
