The Nevada Department of Education is helpful, professional and patient. If you are having difficulty they encourage you to come to their office and they will work things out.

Completely inept and incompetent. They're staff aren't helpful in the least bit. They have arbitrary regulations in the application process. They have an option of turning in transcripts online, but they rejected my transcript and when I had CSN send them the transcripts, they claimed to never receive them. They gave me thirty days to turn in the transcripts in person but they kept sending me emails had I thirty days to submit them every week, so I got all confused. They are never helpful with anything and I always dred having to deal with their incompetence. Nevada Department of education is a pain in the neck to deal with.

One of the worst departments in the state of Nevada!!!!! I am not a teacher but my family member is. They are not helpful if you call. Then one drives there trying to do things in person and they don't help either. To go through all of that and get not get paid what they are worth is hats off to the teachers of Nevada! We could have a news segment called Crisis in the Department of Education. The teachers would come in packs to give their stories!

Terrible terrible customer service. If I could give a negative star rating I would. They don't easily return emails, or phone calls. I have been trying to fix an application error for 6 months. Yes, 6 months! I actually had someone reply back to an email after 4 months and I replied back and still (1 month later) haven't heard anything. I have tried calling and leaving messages at least 6 times and have sent countless emails. I live out of state so going to an office is not feasible

Very happy with the short turnaround on getting my license renewal. I submitted my paperwork five calendar days ago and my fingerprints three days ago. I have already received my approval. I love the OPAL system and really appreciate the NV DOE being done with processing my paperwork so quickly! Awesome!

Wow. I was in the Flamingo office yesterday. An incredibly professional and competent customer service representative (is that what they are called?) handled my situation promptly and perfectly. Devan was amazing. After solving my problem, she went above and beyond the call of duty to offer assistance with other items. If I could give Devan more than five stars, I would. She should be responsible for training the other reps. What a great visit.

They delete reviews that are critical for the betterment of the school district such as Jesus (superintendent) who gives teachers more work and votes on it while they are at school and can’t give their opinions. While also getting a 40 thousand dollar raise. When his teachers do voice their opinions at the school board meeting he has them arrested. All in all dispicable

This is review is for the State Department of Education in general. I relocated from NY to teach in Nevada. I was offered the job in early August which meant a time crunch to get my license. I asked if I needed to take any more classes or exams. I was told "no" that my masters degree fulfilled the Praxis requirement. I called because I did not have time wade through the website trying to find all the itty bitty details for certification. I was given my provisional license with a bunch of provisions that needed to be removed. I received that in October. Later I was told "You should have read your license" . I told them I had but I didn't know about the provisions prior to moving across the country as I was not licensed then. I was never told that I would need to take two more Praxis exams and a college course in Parental Involvement and Family Engagement- they have very few schools that they accept programs from, only in NV and UT and most of the courses listed are obsolete or you need to be enrolled as a full time student. Attempts to remedy this have been met with short responses: " Those are the only schools that we currently accept." I'm sorry but I would have liked to know it would be costing me over a thousand dollars to be certified in NV-in a county that won't even pay me a higher level than those with their BA's. I would have never moved. They wonder why there is such a teacher shortage- Board of Ed, you are partially to blame.
