My daughter is attending and stated to me first day the staff refused to show her where she needed to be. Staff also very cold and heartless to new comers. Bathroom shower has black mold and serving these kids canned goods on a plate with no other nutritional value is beyond wild to me especially since its funded by the government and tax payers money. After reading all the reviews I would never have suggested she start a new with Job Corps. I wonder what would happen if OSHA came?

I am not even done with the enrollment process and I am already thinking of rescinding my application. The disability coordinator was unprofessional by not calling me this week, even though I had reassurance from the CTS Specialist I have been in constant communication with. I had to call yesterday around 4:25PM as the office would be closed if I waited any longer. They even me a question that they even know that they should not ask. I have also read quite a bit of reviews. I should probably go with my gut as it is telling me I would possibly fight with the staff for reasonable accommodations.

I'm just going to post my experience here, I know people are mixed so I'm going to try to be as clear as possible.

There were definitely ups and downs to Job Corps. I started out with a roommate who turned out to be an issue, but when that was vocalized it was quickly solved. I did make friends, who even though I don't talk to much now that we're all out, I still cherish and think of often. I was in and out in four months and got my GED and completed my trade.

I definitely struggled with mental health a lot, I didn't like being there but I knew I had no other options with my life and it turned out to be the right choice because almost two years later I'm working at a well paying job and I live a comfortable life. I think there were things that could have been differently, communication with staff for example.

The way I got through it was mostly staying in my room or going into the fishbowl in my dorm with my friends. I had good times and I was efficient with my trade.

If you know how to conduct yourself and you can express what you want, it could be a breeze.

This is obviously just my experience, I sincerely hope anyone else who goes there ends up successful in their lives. I wish you all luck.

P.S. the food sucks

They begged me to take down a bad review about them. Plus all the food poisoning times are much appreciated. The only good thing that happend there was me meeting the homeland security people. And then not to mention they don't really give a shit if your going through things your just a pay check for em. Lol can't find a job with my trade or anything. They never helped with housing or my drivers license. So yea waste your time coming here if need be. Not to mention the gang violence....oh wait they might find me and beg me again

Please for the love of god do not attend regardless of what other options you have. They are VERY restrictive, If you want your Minors surrounded by Felons and Sexual Deviants then this is the place to take them. The staff don’t even work together and tell you many different things or rules which cause confusion. Drama is so out of control and unavoidable to where my friend is being accused of being a racist which is causing him problems. They will let the bad kids come back even after they have been terminated because they are good enough to make a good enough Sob Story like “I had a bad childhood” or whatever. It’s always loud at night and arguing that sound threatening but it’s all over something stupid. The staff say they would enforce rules but it’s only to some but they let other students get away with other things, some could get away with breaking rules but others wouldn’t be so fortunate. They will give little to no passion or effort into student physical or mental health to where they’ll use alternatives or tell you there’s nothing they can do about it. The place is very filthy and maintenance is pretty much ignored most the time to where toilets get clogged and they leave it. Important note: if you ever call the police for feeling unsafe they will outright terminate you. Overall if you want to send your minor to a prison camp, have them stripped of their rights, neglected physically and mentally, or get bullied and harassed then Jobcorps is the place. I still remember one student leaving not even one week of attending and had his mom pick him up the same night.

Place is a waste of time unless ur getting a diploma, the trades are completely useless unless you are going for CNA or advanced trade. The place is not organized in the slightest, very mismanaged and the staff who are in positions of high power act like children and are cold to the people who attend here.
Its good to come here if you have no where else to go, free food(the kids say its really bad but its pretty good for what the kitchen staff are given) shoutout to neo, free housing free education if you actually stay in class and have a desire to learn. Plenty of opportunity to make lifelong friends and meet good people who are in similar situations. But it also provides opportunities for you to meet people who arent the greatest bunch, and its vital to not get wrapped up with them.
The staff who made this place bearable and worthwhile will forever have a place in my heart those staff are Mr.bovyn, who always wants to make sure his student are happy and having a good time, Mrs.carter who would always have supportive uplifting things to say and always supported and encouraged creativity in the students, Mr.Montgomery who is always willing to help a student in need and who truly cares about the students wellbeing, Mr.santana whom ive had hours of amazing advice and conversations with and I thank him for sitting with me and having those discussions with me it truly made my time memorable.
If you take job corps for what it is and know what you are doing before you go and what you will get out of it then it isnt a bad idea to come here.

Everyone complaining doesn’t understand the purpose of Job Corps. it isn’t easy to adjust but this is an excellent alternative when every other option has been exhausted. this is a way out. You can get your diploma, license, and pick up a trade without ever talking to other students. Bunch of crybabies in these reviews, the communication between staff and the food is awful but that’s about all i can complain about. i’ve been here for about a month now and I can say confidently this was my best option, i can’t wait to make money when i’m out. (Be careful sending female minors here. this is a place for people with troubled pasts, they may not feel safe or they may put themselves in dangerous situations since they’re young and naive. i thought that would be a given though, raise your children correctly…)
