1st grade nightmare

It is unfortunate that I have to share my negative experiences with this school. The staff, including the principal, have been unresponsive and unhelpful in addressing my concerns and issues. Mrs. Ikolo's email responses were not constructive and did not provide any solutions. The WoW presentations were not informative and did not address the real concerns of parents and students. For example, there was no clear explanation on how to log in hours for the first week.

The teachers were not proficient in using the new platform, which resulted in my daughter being ignored during class. Due to these persistent issues, we have decided to switch to Pine Spring Coastal Preparatory Academy for the remainder of this year, after which my daughter will be transitioning to in person learning.

I was not aware that when enrolling my child in K-12, I would be expected to assume the role of a teacher and instruct her in subjects such as science, social studies, and phonics. The designated teacher is solely responsible for teaching English (with occasional phonics instruction) and mathematics. Hence the delays and learning gaps she has.

My daughter was not receiving an adequate education, so my husband and I decided to hire a tutor for her. We are grateful that she now receives occupational therapy and speech services in person as well. We do not believe that the teachers or admin genuinely care about our concerns.

My advice too the parents or self enrolling teenagers is too run far away as possible unless you love dealing with incompetent workers/School. I usually NEVER wrote a bad review with any place I associate with even if that place were horrible at their jobs but this I’m seriously taking too heart, the unprofessional tactics must end. I've had a really frustrating experience with K-12. They are incredibly inconsistent with answering calls and emails, which has caused a lot of inconvenience. On top of that, the information they provide is often misleading, making it difficult to get accurate answers. Half of the representatives didn't seem to know how to do their job correctly. They kept telling me to send documents for three weeks to enroll, only for me to find out later that their enrollment had closed, but they didn't tell me that from the start. Overall, very disappointed with their service.

Beware... incompetent staff no support when you need it...no urgency to return calls or emails you just get the run around...your child is just a number for funding nothing more...when a teacher cancels a class of 60 students to attend a Taylor Swift concert that shows how much they care...Try North Carolina Cyber Academy at least staff there show more concern...Do better NCVA...

My daughter has been at NCVA for 2 years now and will return next year as well! It is definitely a learning process to get used to a new style of schooling, but it is totally worth it. The only complaint I ever had is that if you have two students the information that is true for both students doesn't file share. In my opinion, you shouldn't have to go to the learning coach course a second time to enroll another student.

The teachers are great, the online classroom just got a huge kid friendly update that my daughter absolutely loves, and the school is constantly pushing to work at each students level. In regular school my daughter was way above her class and they wouldn't give her harder work. At NCVA, they test the students 3 times a year and adjust the curriculum accordingly. I love it!

Wonderful school that lets your child work on their own pace! Our academically gifted child has excelled and throughly enjoyed learning in virtual classes with teachers and breakout groups w/ classmates. Our child's learning experience on & off the computer has been an incredible experience for all of us.

My son goes here. He loves the small class size, the fact that everything is online for him and he can still see his friends from his other school. I love that the teachers keep in touch with you and the fact that my son isn't being bullied on his way to school. I also love that he has books (actual textbooks!) to study from. I'm keeping my son in NCVA until he graduates.
