North West College was one of the best schools I could have chosen when it came to getting my Medical Assistant Certification. I loved how the program was hybrid, the teachers were very thorough and on point, and the staff there was amazing. I have to say if you go to Northwest College make sure to build a relationship with Jesse. He’s the career coordinator. He made my experience at that school wonderful. He always encouraged me when I was feeling down and unsure . He always makes sure that I was taking care of. If I ever had an issue, I would go to Jesse and even if it wasn’t his job, he will go above and beyond to make sure I receive the resources that I needed to get my issues. He also was able to find me a job within two weeks of me graduating. Jesse made North West College the college that it is today.

Enrolled in the ADN RN program at the Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing located on the San Diego campus. They are currently trying to dismiss me as a form of retaliation for reporting concerns with staff and Dean. They claimed fell below the 70% after not grading and adding all of my assignments to my final grade. I have ample proof of submitting early!
In August 2024 after attempting to resolve issues with instructor since June, I followed all
procedures outlined in the student handbook to file a grievance concerning:
1. Disparities in the grading process: Grades were inconsistent, and the instructor failed to follow the syllabus. (Instructors only graded assignments twice within the entire 16 week semester. Assignments did not have accurate due date dates on their assignment dash board and were randomly graded. Students did not have an accurate prediction rather or not they were going to even pass the class, many students found out they were failing after being put on academic probation with only weeks left to try to pass classes. )
2. Unpredictable assignments and quizzes: These were issued sporadically, without any clear structure or schedule.
3. Inadequate lab hours: The promised hours at the beginning of the semester were not delivered. (Most lab hours offered conflicted with majority student pre req. courses that you will be dismissed from the program if you are late or absent. Student tutoring services were claimed to be offered and every session I scheduled was either canceled last minute or resulted in a No Show)
4. Failure to account for all submitted assignments: Some assignments I submitted were neither graded nor acknowledged.
5. Students enrolled in course did not have full access to the course text book.(Instructor was asked weekly by students but refused to allow students to access the pearson text book online which would also allow students to access more study materials. We were charged and NOT refunded for this $400 book and online access)
After attempting to resolve these issues directly with the instructor, I escalated my concerns to the administration. When no effective action was taken, I brought the matter to the Dean.
The Dean of Nursing at my location, Linda De La Cruz, a registered nurse in the state of California, acknowledged during a phone conversation that she was already aware of the concerns I raised regarding my professor. She admitted that she had discussed these issues with the instructor and instructed him to implement the necessary changes before the end of the semester, effectively granting him another opportunity to address his deficiencies.
Following this conversation, Dean De La Cruz became increasingly defensive and unprofessional in her interactions with me. When I provided updates regarding my continued negative experiences in subsequent classes taught by the same instructor--classes that showed no meaningful revisions to the curriculum or evidence of reform action with the instructor--her response was consistently dismissive. She not only maintained a defensive stance but also actively placed blame on me and other students for the ongoing issues related to the professor, the class, and the curriculum.
I am preparing to file a civil lawsuit (even though they try to force students to go through an arbitration by a contract they force you to sign to recover all damages). Their several fraudulent practices qualify for a civil case, since attending this institution since they refuse to reform its program and actually enforce and follow their own policies and procedures outlined in their student handbook as well as federal and state guidelines.
I strongly do not suggest this school as an option while pursuing any medical higher education and urge all students who have experienced any of the same experiences to document all communication and report the experiences to (BBB, BPPE, California Board of Nursing, FASFA Borrowers Loan Discharge Complaint, and File a Consumer Fraud report with your Attorney General)

My son has had nothing but problems with this school. First he was told he needed 60 credits to graduate, and the counselor set him up with classes totaling 59. So he ended up having to take another class to graduate. Then, they messed up his degree, longer story short, he is still waiting to receive his diploma, which is delaying his academics another semester. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this college.

This school is pretty decent. I am almost done with the nursing program and am very excited to get through. All of the friends of mine that have gone here, are in an RN position now and have been there since finishing. This is a good school. Please don’t listen to the fake reviews. There is people that work hard for their education while here, and then there’s those who wanted it to be handed to them and don’t get through and are salty then come on here and post false accusations.

Red Flags: A Medical School to Avoid

Choosing the right medical school is crucial. Unfortunately, this institution falls far short of expectations. Here are some serious concerns:

Subpar Instruction: The quality of education is deeply concerning. Instructors lack subject expertise and appear unengaged. Emails go unanswered, and clear explanations are absent in class. This raises questions about the ability to prepare students for a rigorous medical career.
Financial Aid Dysfunction: The financial aid office is unresponsive and unhelpful. Reaching them by phone is a challenge, and even when connected, advisors seem uninformed about student needs. This lack of support can cause significant financial stress.
Unprofessional Environment: The student body exhibits a troubling lack of professionalism and empathy for future patients. The overall atmosphere is far from what's expected in a medical setting. Inappropriate behavior and bullying are issues, further jeopardizing a serious learning environment.
Serious Concerns Beyond the Surface:

Rumors regarding a patient fatality during clinical rotations raise additional red flags. A reputable medical school would address such an incident with transparency and prioritize patient safety. Their reliance on social media marketing suggests a desperate attempt to attract students rather than focusing on educational quality.

A Crucial Decision:

This institution presents a significant risk to your future patients and your own well-being. Consider this a cautionary tale. There are far better options available to pursue your medical career. Don't settle for anything less than an institution that fosters professionalism, knowledge, and patient care.

Ive had nothing but a positive experience with my schooling at this trade school. From the introduction with Heather, who is extremely encouraging and informative, to finishing the program with Jesse. Jesse goes above and beyond. He is realistic and up front. Even after graduating he checks in to make sure everything is on the right track and if not will step in to guide and help you if needed. Already looking into going back to further my education.

Jesse Roas, the guidance counselor, is amazing. He found me a wonderful externship and helped make me a beautiful resume, which resulted in me getting a good job. Jesse is a gem, and this school should be very happy that's he's there. Thank you thank you Jesse for making my experience a wonderful one. Also, I can still reach out to him, and he still helps. 💕
