Its with a heart full of gratitude, hope and appreciation that I write this post, as our daughter has just finished her time at PQ.
I'm writing this review for any parent out there that is in the hardest decision process of their lives. There feels like no good answer. When we finally made the gut-wrenching decision to find care for our daughter, we were overwhelmed with fear....would she be safe? How are we going to pay for it? Were we traumatizing her, and she would resent us forever?
We were in agony, but we knew our child needed help beyond what we could provide at home.
We used an Educational Consultant (highly recommend!) and they steered us towards PQ. Kellyn, the admissions coordinator, was nothing but wonderful. He was calm, and understanding , and answered all our questions with genuine thought and care. Its clear that PQ really cares that this program is the right fit for your child- I now know, as they knew all along, that pulling a child from treatment is pretty detrimental to everyone. So, they really made sure we and our daughter were a fit.
Yes, leaving your child at an RTC is tough- maybe the toughest act of love you will do as a parent. But, every single person we met when we dropped her off made us feel they she would be safe, and cared for. The approach is gentle, especially as your child adjusts. Its nurture nurture nurture while your child adapts to their new step.
Dr. Tracy was our daughters therapist, and to say she changed our daughters life...I truly believe that. I will be forever, forever be grateful for her wisdom.
I also must mention the entire staff at PQ. I dont know how the directors do it, but they have somehow acquired the most caring, fun, and amazing guides. The guides will become a huge part of your childs life at PQ, and their love, wisdom, patience and humor will forever be marked on my child, and our, hearts. Special, special love to Marty, Jack, Madison, Dan....and I am sure I missing others but know, they are all incredible.
The program is thoughtful. It will challenge your child. It will challenge you. Its hopeful....its HARD...its tedious while also moving lightening fast.
As our daughter leaves PQ today, a huge, huge piece of our family's story will stay there, as they gave us our child back. She will forever be changed, as will we.
I will close by saying....I think many times people hear our, and parents like us, stories and feel pity. I actually feel lucky. PQ gave my child a shot at a productive, joyful life. It taught our family how to grow and communicate in a way that will bring us peace in future moments of hardship.
So while you may feel lost and hopeless now....I would say, feel lucky. You and your child have a chance to grow in ways you never dreamed.
All our love PQ. Thank you.

We had high hopes that PQ could help our daughter with her challenges. The parent group meetings felt like a 300 level Psychology class and I learned so much about mental health, cause and effect, & parenting skills. The program has brought our whole family together and I believe my daughter has an opportunity to thrive as a young adult. Thank you PQ for you approach and attention to every detail in support of our family.

Pacific Quest works. Our young adult and our whole family has gone from feeling hopeless and helpless to feeling not only hopeful but empowered thanks to PQ. All of the staff are nurturing, caring, and professional. PQ's holistic approach to wellness is thoughtful and effective. The level of experience, wisdom, and commitment of the clinical team is inspiring. The decision to seek residential care is a very difficult one that requires a lot of faith and trust -- I am thankful every day that we chose PQ for our child.

My 16 year old son just got home after 90 days at PQ and it changed his life. We are so pleased with the program and the staff and team are outstanding professionals. It was scary at first not knowing how he would adapt but with the help from the professionals at PQ he was able to achieve massive success. I would recommend PQ to any family that is seeking guidance from EXPERTS !

Just an observation. Several months ago I called PQ for information about their YA program. Their admission person was candid enough to tell me that my then 24 year old son was too older for their current cohort of young adults. He thought that it would diminish his experience there. Even offered to help with information about other programs including transitional care programs. Told me that I could call him anytime. Oh my goodness! This is our 2nd go at higher level care and we have become somewhat jaded by our experiences for both our adopted sons. I can’t tell you how much I was touched by this man’s genuine concern for our family. If your young person is a good fit, it seems to me that you have an ethical program here that is not just after your savings/your child’s inheritance.

My teenage son went to Pacific Quest in January 2024. He knew he needed a change and more help than he was getting at home but was hesitant to make the big commitment. He agreed to give it a try and we are so grateful that he did! This place saved his life. Truly. He says it is the single best thing he has ever done. And talks about how he hopes to go back one day to work there. The skills he learned there and the people he worked with will be a part of him for the rest of his life. Sending your child to a place like this is one of the hardest decisions you will ever make. But I am so glad we were able to give him this second chance at a happy life. He is now happy, proud of himself, and applying to colleges. I really cannot say enough good things or recommend this place more. It saved his life and gave him a fresh start and we will forever be grateful.

Pacific Quest changed my life! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to go here and experience the healing process that PQ can provide. I discovered PQ through Sky’s The Limit Fund. I was in complete despair, desperate for change, and at the end of my metaphorical rope. I chose to seek help and I was accepted into the young adult program here at PQ. It was the best decision I’ve ever made to pursue therapy at PQ. The three months I spent there were the most amazing months I’ve ever experienced in my entire life. It felt like a miracle. The staff were so friendly, supportive, and always had the residents best interest at heart. The amount of therapy was incredible and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced! I felt supported every step of the way through my journey. My path was different than most- especially since I chose to put myself in treatment. I thrived off of the structure that is provided from PQ. I thought I was going to PQ to help with my mental health, but it also helped me in all aspects of my life. I am completely changed mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually from everything I learned at PQ. I am also now completely sober! I have been home for just over a month now and have been able to apply massive changes to my lifestyle and it’s improving my life in so many ways. My communication, my relationships, my health, and my feelings for hope have all been improved. I will admit, it was not an easy feat- the healing process can be painful and messy; but this is the best environment to go through it! I have PTSD, and so much grief to feel; things I had been bottling up and shutting out my whole life that I was finally able to feel, process, understand, and eventually learn to let go of and move forward. This program truly goes above and beyond, and they are making a huge difference in this world. I would recommend PQ to anyone willing to listen! This place is transformational! I cannot thank Pacific Quest enough for believing in me and supporting me every step of the way.

Things that I loved about PQ:

-professional therapy and continuity of care
-loving staff who genuinely care about residents
-learning about Hawaii and adventures around Hawaii
-specifically the incredible beaches and wildlife of Hawaii
-learning how to have balance in my life
-learning how to take care of my body through food, exercise, and mental health support
-structured days and healthy challenges
-community living, peers to connect with and grow with
-emphasis on the healing powers of nature
-empowering residents to grow and heal
-recovery groups and group therapy
-emphasis on ceremonies when you’ve made accomplishments, and celebrating each other
-high standards of resident accountability and respect, while still supporting through challenges
-so many healing tools (these were life changing)
-and so much more; it was truly unforgettable

Glad to see they are deleting negative reviews again! I went to PQ 10 years ago and still have nightmares. They literally traffic the PQ "students" into doing farm labor for their own benefit, or loaning out our labor to other local farms under the guise of "volunteering." This place was shut down for not being up to code for a mental health treatment center only 5 years ago. Don't believe their lies, do not traumatize your child by sending them to this hellhole of a "therapy" program.
