I’m a vet and I attended the welding program and the instructor named Mel is absolutely terrible. Her style of teaching is bland and boring.
Instead of helping the students she just walks around with a bad attitude and criticizes everything you do. It would be different if it was constructive criticism and she would try to help you improve but that is not the case.
The hotel they have you stay at it surrounded by drug dealers and addicts who constantly harass you. The rooms are not clean and they are also infested with roaches. Besides that the other instructors are amazing and so is the management staff.

I attended VTI a few years back and the staff is great but the school itself is not work the price for HVAC, it costs about $15k for 1 month of schooling and you get almost no experience for the real world and the certification, which by the way you can just study on your own and get them for a few hundred dollars, they give you some tools and a laptop but that is less than $1k easily. I would not recommend the school for anyone

Hi, I was recently a student at VTI and I would like to warn future students. I payed for my schooling which came close to 20k and I have to say I don’t believe the school is worth half of that. For one are teacher was sick the whole school so we had a sub who graduated from the very school a year before me and I believe she is a good welder but a terrible teacher. Second the tools and equipment failed multiple times a week while I was at the school which caused a massive backup of students just to use a cutting torch. Not to mention lack of supplies and space. Then don’t even get me started on living accommodations. The hotel is ranked 1.5 stars and that is supposedly the best hotel in the area which that should say everything. And from the homeless to the drugs in the area is not really a safe place for its students. And to top it all off the staff messed up my flight plan there and back, then tried to bribe me with giving me the HVAC class for free. This is not how you’re supposed to treat vets.

I attended this school last month to learn HVAC I gotta say it was an awesome experience Dalton was a stellar instructor couldnt have asked for a more intelligent or patient person to learn from. I would recommend this school to any veteran looking to expand their expertise 10/10 definitely recommend.

I attended VTI from January 18th- February 15 and it had to be one to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only did they keep their promises of helping you find work upon graduation, but while attending the hands on instruction we received was second to none. My primary instructor was Dalton Gregson, and with the use of training aides, real world scenarios and overall expert knowledge of the trade i can truly say we left VTI ready to get our “feet wet” in the HVAC industry. In addition to our primary instructor we also received guidance and alternate forms of learning from Michael “Top” Frans, another instructor at the school. VTI is very veteran friendly and yes, the GI Bill covers it. A month after leaving VTI i got i landed an Installer position with the biggest HVAC company in my area. If you take nothing from this post or it was just too long VTI is the best option for jumping into HVAC and or Welding.

Highly recommend this school and their Welding Program. Andy is a great instructor, very professional, very thorough, and makes learning fun. Luis and his staff are incredibly helpful, as well. I went to this school, from Waco, Texas and do not regret it. I feel that the experience I got, was excellent. Thanks again!
