I have volunteered for them for about a year now. They are once per month, always the second Saturday of each month for a few hours. You are paired with at least one other volunteer and you literally read to elementary students books that have been selected for each grade level. Afterwards everyone goes to El Chollo on Western and has margaritas and donated appetizers. It's so popular you have to sign up well in advance to get a spot. I have forgotten to sign up a few times and lost the chance to volunteer. The guy who runs it must have a passion for computers because all of the volunteers are expertly managed. You get an email with links where you can see parking options, directions to your particular school, information about the book you will be reading, what kids your grade like to do. It's so, so well run. I just love this place.

Reading. To. Kids. They do what they say and they love what they do. Such an I credible, long-running program. They offer a wonderful, uncomplicated, opportunity for community service with some of the most deserving recipients - kids! Literacy, English comprehension, free bagels... What more could you want!?

Great volunteer opportunity for the the retired or working teachers to be helpful to kids in needs of extra help for reading and writing. To work with deprived kids is divine ❤ī¸
