I went there today at 10am and got out by 3. As strange as it might sound, I really had an enjoyable time! Every worker from the parking lot security men helping me find the ER,to the front desk,Tracey, GREAT person! To the check in,ultrasound, and the wonderful nurse that took the time to come to me because it was hard for me to walk, and explain everything! Wonderful staff!!!!

My 82 year old Aunt with multiple health issues was sent to Rome from Oneonta after she said she wanted to kill herself after an acute neuro event ( stupor , slurring words inability to remember anything ) she was held on psych hold in Rome . I called yesterday to find out how she was doing and was told she had been released an hour prior ) no one let me or her home health care team know she was released and the Social worker had the number to her head nurse and myself ) I am her legal medical proxy and power of attorney . My aunt did not have her keys , her purse or her phone . They just put her in a Taxi . I was able to contact her home nurse who rushed to her house to find her cold , soaking feet and standing in her driveway with no way to get in . This was an appalling lack of care in my opinion . In addition neither hospital actually addressed her acute neuro event which led to the 911 call . I have an appointment made with her own neuro ( she has had a prior stroke , heat disease and diabetes ) but that we can not get in till after the holidays . Both hospitals declined a neuro consult while she was there.

Most ER’s have a reputation for long waits and a lack of concern for patients, but neither was true when I went in to the Rome ER.

I don’t frequent ER’s and I’ve heard horror stories about Rome, but I found the staff to be kind, attentive, even compassionate.

From the admin staff, to the triage nurse, to the Physician’s Assistant - every single one was nice and very pleasant.

I think that Rome has outlived its former poor reputation and in my opinion was first class.

Don’t get me wrong - I don’t have plans to or want to come back, but if I need an ER visit I would be glad to back to Rome Hospital.

It's your typical emergency room. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow. Depends on what is going on that day. I can't really blame them for that. One reason for 3 stars is the lack of communication with patients.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Waited five hours for help. My son went in with a broken wrist when we got help there was no compassion everyone seemed stressed they told my son who is really a great kid that he was uncooperative in pain waiting for five hours and the splint they put on my son wanted off he said the splint was so painful. The people in the emergency room are all very rude!!!!!!!!!!!! I will drive all the way to st Luke’s next time, so I'm adding my son got hit in the forehead with a hockey puck, my husband took him to the ER, the nurse was so rude, I told her my son is afraid of needles, it did not matter to her, so we decided to leave and she calls security to cover her but, and the security guard even says to make a complaint because the ER nurse practitioner was lying, they are very judgemental people, have more compassion, if your tired at your job pick a new job!

Dr Sargine Brutus is the laziest medical professional I’ve ever encountered. Judgmental, rude, and lazy. Minimal investigation to my medical issues and just threw pain meds at me and discharged with zero pain effort to find out out what’s wrong.

Went to Rome Health ER on Tuesday February 20th 2024 with back and leg pain. Was having a hard time walking and I was having spasms in my legs also. They did an X-ray and told me I really needed an MRI but there was no time for that. My X-ray showed nothing so the sent me home with pain meds. The next day which was Wednesday February 21st my pain and my walking worsened.Could barely walk and had to use a walker. So I went back to Rome Health ER and the PA said I really needed an MRI but unfortunately the hospital had no time to give it to me. The day before I saw Dr. Bushnell. So, they sent me back to the waiting room and a nurse came out and had 2 shots for me so he had me go into the public restroom and gave me my shots and sent me home. The next morning which was Thursday February 22nd I woke up and was paralyzed from the waist down. So my husband called an ambulance and we went to upstate hospital in Syracuse where I got my MRI to find I had a SPINAL CORD STROKE and I also had a stroke on my brain. Th spinal cord stroke is rare but I feel what should have happened was 1, I should have gotten my MRI in Rome and 2 the second time I went to Rome health there should have been red flags that something was seriously wrong and they could’ve sent me to Syracuse. But, instead they sent me home while I was having a stroke!!! Great job Rome Health!! I must add, that signs of a spinal cord stroke is back pain and difficulty walking along with leg spasms of which I had all those symptoms when I went to Rome Health. Just so you know if you want to be called a “ Stroke Center”. I really hope this never happens to anyone else. I will continue to advocate for this and continue to write letters and make calls…..
