I had a fantastic experience here! I was admitted here last week after I experienced paralysis on my left side out of nowhere, I stayed for about four days. Every person I interacted with was amazing, it made my Unexpected stay so much easier! From housekeeping (Walter), to room service, my PT & OT ladies (Shelly & Jan!), The two ladies down at MRI, my Alabama fan Dr who performed my ECHO, and my amazing nurses. I could not be more grateful. I have to thank a few special nurses who really went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable: Kyla, Juni, Teresa, Destiny, and Annie. Absolutely fantastic care at a time when I needed it the most! God bless you all ❤️

If I could give a 0 star review I would, because they don't deserve any stars. It's been a little over a week since my visit, because I've been so sick I haven't been able to write this until now. I was here in 10/4 and let me tell you, I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this hospital. They were busy, fine. People were waiting 7 plus hours to be seen. I got there via ambulance so I had an IV already, so instead of having me in the waiting room, they put me in a chair in the back hallway where anyone walking around could see me and hear me. I then waited, with no check ins from staff. Their excuse later was that I was still in line like everyone else but they didn't want me in the waiting area with an IV, fine. After about 3 or 4 hours of waiting, I hunted down some staff to ask for some more meds because the Toradol i got on the ambulance was wearing off and I needed more. I wasn't asking for a room, or to skip the line, but just for some help to not be in excruciating pain while passing this kidney stone. Well they got me into a room finally, still in an unconfirmed chair, but they gave me some meds and then I waited for a CT. While waiting, I get a notification that some of the test results came back. Imagine my surprise when one of them was a pregnancy test. As someone in a same sex marriage AND no uterus, this was a shock. Part of the delay in getting a CT was for something I didn't need. And then there's the doctors. The first one was a nurse practitioner, who promised to get me some fluids and then didn't. The second one should lose her license. She tried claiming that there was no was I was dehydrated(even though I had both a kidney stone and UTI with no fluids at this point in over 6 hours) because I could pee. Mind you, had she asked, I wasn't really peeing. It was trickles, hardly anything coming out, because I never received fluids. She then tried saying that 158/100 is perfectly fine blood pressure, even though she never once had it rechecked. That's right, in the 10 hours I was there, my vitals were taken 1 time by the EMT on the ambulance and never again. Because of this doctor's negligence, my UTI quickly turned into a kidney infection(the UTI symptoms started Thursday night, and it typically takes longer to turn into a kidney infection but because I had passed a stone, it grew more rapidly). She gave the wrong antibiotics and didn't stop the nausea and vomiting before discharging me so I couldn't keep the meds down, even though I begged her to keep me longer so I could stabalize. I explained the last time this happened i was hospitalized because the vomiting wouldn't stop and instead she said I would be at risk if I was kept longer. DO NOT COME HERE!!!! It is a death sentence

My adult cousin stayed in room 3310 for several days. I just have to commend the staff for good care of someone, older, with high anxiety. Tracy was the nurse and was spot on with him. Didn't mind he was "different" and likes to be alone and know everything ahead of time. She's a gem and the rest of the staff I came in contact with were very nice and accommodating. All are overworked and do a good job in spite of it.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here. I was left on a drip of a controlled substance alone for hours, during my first time and it was a very painful experience. Blood started coming out from the needle. I pressed and pressed the emergency button and the guy controlling it actually hung up on me. I'd like his name. They also left a hematoma in my arm.

I came back to the hospital for an asthma attack and they gave me a large dose of steroids and medicines that made my heart rate shoot up, and a breathing treatment. Breathing treatments are also known to change heart rate bpm. The breathing treatment was put on my incorrectly by a blonde nurse. It kept falling off and I was calling for help. Again no one came. They knew I already had a fast heart rate. I couldn't breathe and they didn't give me ANYTHING to slow my heart down and sent me on my way. This hospital has left me alone in my deepest and darkest of times. This hospital is a nightmare and a terrible environment that needs to be shut down.
These nurses have compassion fatigue and do not care about the patients and neither do the doctors. And may I say, they have forgotten to give me my prescriptions to drop off twice now and also to my partner. This place genuinely gives me anxiety. Please go to Grandview. Shelby is done
Thank you

The nurses withhold medicine if they don’t feel you are in need even after surgery. I have waited hours to even get a tech to check on me directly after surgery. Rooms never cleaned never been more humiliated as a human than the way nurses especially JULIE. OLD ANGRY HATEFUL she needs to find another profession. I’ve had to make calls to patient advocate and would still be ignored. 5 days now I have been inpatient. I was in the area visiting my sick mom at this very hospital when my appendix had to be removed emergency. I would never ever ever recommend sending anyone you love to this place. If you do have to send them. Make sure you have a person to stay with patient and document yarn advocate for your loved ones. The nurses and staff don’t care. it should never take hours to answer a patient calls for help.

On the afternoon of June 20, 2024 I was taken by ambulance to Shelby Baptist Medical Center. While in the Emergency Department, four nurses slid me back and forth, over and over again, on some sort of waterproof mat while spraying me with ice cold water on full blast and talking about how much better it made them feel to do this to me. I cried out over and over again, begging and pleading for them to please have mercy on me, but sadly I was told that I needed to be quiet because I "had no rights". One of the nurses said to me multiple times, "You came in covered in piss and vomit, Stephanie - you have NO rights". I was coherent when I arrived but I lost consciousness several times and was unresponsive in the ICU for three days, all of which I attribute to the cruel treatment I received at the hands of those four nurses. I pray that those treatment rooms are equipped with audio/video surveillance because someone seriously needs to review the "care" I received on the afternoon of June 20, 2024. I'd like to add that the ICU nurses were extremely caring and professional.

Refused multiple times to give my husband his medication for his attacks and rude employees. 10/13/24 Nurse sent me and my family into a panic attack stating my husband was dead. Giving out false information. When his mother went back there, he was coming out the bathroom. Also gave him the wrong medication.

Went to the ER today and the staff was very rude and nurse practitioner told me that I was acting like I was about to die!! I was in so much pain but didn’t feel comfortable there so I went to Brookwood free standing and received the best care. And Shelby Baptist Emergency is so nasty and disgusting!!!!
