Update: we have been refunded our gift card amount and the issue was resolved. Avoid the gift cards and you should have a pretty smooth and pleasant stay. The morning coffee is delish.

This place used to be a hidden gem. Only 1 person knows how to run gift cards. I was fully charged for the room and was informed that at the end of our stay it would be applied. It hasn't. 2 weeks later we are getting the runaround from management which was supposed to be a gift. we had to drive back down there to get any sort of movement and the person who bought the gift card had to drive down there. Has left a sour taste on our experience. The rooms themselves very neat and tidy, bed super comfy. Allowing dogs is a perk, all of that great. Management and customer relations for resolving issues needs to be addressed from the top, completely unprofessional still waiting for a refund.

Update 2/22: manager refunded all charges to my credit card from our stay. They are working on ways to make gift cards redeemable at booking. Might return when I read of others improved experiences.

Needs to refocus on the boutique luxury experience. We came here over Valentine’s Day weekend and stayed Sunday- Monday. We paid over $400 after taxes and fees for one night.

We arrived around 2 p.m. check-in begins at 3. We went to the lobby and no one was there, a sign that said call for immediate assistance was there, but we waited about 15 minutes before attempting to call. When we did, the phone next to the sign rang, and no one picked up. We went over to the on-site restaurant where only one person was working and asked if they could call someone to the lobby.

Someone eventually came and got our details. They said the room was not ready yet, but we could use the pool while we waited. We reminded them we had a gift card to apply towards part of the balance and they asked for it and said they would apply it when we checked in.

We went to the pool area and changed in the bathrooms. We expected a heated pool from the marquee signage advertising so, but couldn’t stay in longer than 20 minutes because it was so cold. There was also a bunch of debris on the base of it. Because there was only 1 person working the restaurant we also had to get out to order drinks, which took about 10 minutes and were the wrong drinks, that had to be remade.

When we went to officially check in, it was a different person who asked if we had the gift card we had noted on the reservation. We told him we gave it to the person we spoke to previously.

The room itself was nice. We’ve been here before and it was pleasant to see that the rooms are aging well and anything that needed repairs had been repaired. Temperature controls are still on an old style AC / fan unit at the front. There is a coffee machine but no water bottles to fill it with, except for paid bottles, unless you want to use the sink. The WiFi signal was terrible, it would disconnect unless standing directly next to the window. Not a huge deal to the overall experience but it’s a little detail that you wouldn’t expect from a room that was over $400 a night. Our room was also right next to the pool and the speakers are attached to the bathroom wall so loud music starts early in the morning.

When we checked out I asked about the gift card being applied towards the stay. They said it would be credited in 2-10 business days in the form of a credit card refund. I think this is an absolutely absurd way to do a gift card redemption. I’m now out the $400+ until it’s credited as a refund? There was no way to apply the gift card at booking or at checkout? Hotels typically have ways of making adjustments to the stay so this was absolutely disappointing.

Overall the hotel really just needs some polishing on their hospitality. The staff were all nice, but clearly understaffed. A holiday weekend should be well staffed and provide a $400 experience. An actual heated pool, decent internet, and complimentary amenities.

Amazing revamped motel at a good price point. It was a relaxing stay thanks to the quiet communal areas and chill pool vibes. Fantastic location near the town and amazing wineries.

Overall, I enjoy staying at Skyview as the price and cleanliness and free morning coffee are great. However, there are just a few small things to take note of. The room itself is quite small - not NYC small, but it's not spacious by any means. Also, if you're doing wine tastings in Solvang or Los Olivos, it can be a bit of a drive which isn't ideal after drinking so, for that reason, I may consider staying in Los Olivos (vs. Los Alamos) next time around. The other issue I had (just this past stay) was that we were placed in a room that shared a wall w/ the maintenance closet (Room #25). The cleaning crew was up bright and early every morning banging equipment around in the closet and talking to each other, which woke us up both mornings we were there. Additionally, our shower was cold b/c we learned the crew was running the laundry on the other side of the wall. They were just doing their job - totally understandable - but the bigger issue is that when we put a complaint into the staff about the issues of noise and cold water, they simply said "we've never had an issue before" which is essentially dismissing our concerns and doing nothing about them which is the part we had an issue with. There were other rooms vacant but they didn't offer a different room or even a partial discount - anything for that matter. For that alone, we left the place quite dissatisfied this time around. Not to say we'd never stay again, but you're definitely getting the service you'd expect for a 3 star hotel.

A mid-coast gem. It has been completely changed, all for the better. The drive thru is now a landscaped path with a fountain, a fire pit and seating areas. On-site restaurant is good with a full bar. 2.5 hrs from LA; 20 minutes from Foxen Canyon Rd and multiple wineries. Our next stop is Paso Robles, so this was a perfect stop.
The pool is heated. No kids allowed in the pool.

The staff were very unprofessional and lacked hospitality. For the price of this hotel, I would expect more friendly and accommodating staff. The lady in the lobby doing check in was so rude to us. She practically threw the key at us and didn’t provide any information about the property. We also paid for early check in and it was not honored. The value of this hotel does not match the price. I have never done a review of a hotel, but felt like I needed to.

Do not book this place!!! Planned a special weekend in Los Alamos with a confirmed booking a week in advance. We showed up to check in at 5pm the night of arrival on a holiday weekend to be told that they overbooked and had no room for us. My fiancée has a disability and a service dog and they only told us they didn’t have room after they asked about the dog, so definitely smells of discrimination. There was no availability anywhere else in the area (obviously why we booked in advance) so the best they could tell us was “Sorry” and refund our money. Extremely unprofessional and poorly managed hotel.

Skyview Los Alamos is an absolute gem, blending retro charm with a modern, cool vibe. This old hotel has been brilliantly transformed into a boutique haven, perfect for a romantic getaway. The quaint pool scene, complete with a walk-up bar, is a relaxing spot to unwind, while the inside bar and restaurant boast some of the best mixologists around. As the name suggests, the views are simply incredible, offering a stunning panorama of the surrounding landscape and farms with horses. The hotel's layout is thoughtfully designed, with dual cross-room locations that feature cozy outdoor seating areas and a firepit for those perfect evening gatherings.

The rooms themselves are boutique perfection, with well-stocked bars, private porches, and clean, well-appointed bathrooms. The beds are incredibly comfortable, with high-quality sheets and pillows ensuring a restful night's sleep. Los Alamos is undoubtedly worth the $500 per night price tag if you're traveling through wine country and seeking a unique, romantic, and stylish place to stay. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable boutique hotel experience.

Shout out as well to Naomi at the front desk for being so helpful!
