Steps was the first place I've ever gone to treatment and it was well worth it, so far it's saved my relationship with my wife, my family and myself. The staff is extremely kind and caring and just wants to help however in order for them to do so you have to be 110% open and willing to put in the work yourself.
If your looking into treatment this may help you so you know what your going into and what you can bring.
Blankets and pillows from home.
You can vape and smoke (don't flush vapes down the toilet or you'll lose your privileges for everyone it almost happened).
You can have food and candy (no energy drinks).
Family nights every other week on Tuesdays.
Black out period is 5 days (no phone calls).
Very scheduled, you'll be going from 8am to 8pm every day but it passes time quickly.
Just a few things that made my time easier, so if your looking into becoming a better you, this is the place to start.

Steps Recovery without a doubt changed my life for the better. From day 1, I was treated respectfully and with compassion by the entire staff. After putting off treatment for several years and nearly losing my family, I reached out to them and was immediately made a priority. I was the last person on earth that wanted to go to treatment. The level of counseling was far beyond what I expected as well as the staff there who were instrumental in my recovery. I owe the entire staff there more than I’d ever be able to pay back. My therapist was incredibly insightful and knowledgeable and I can’t thank him enough. We were never cooped up in a room all day. We had not only mental and emotional coaching, but physical and outdoor activity which helped immensely. If you’re reading this and deciding on whether or not to get help here, do it right now. This place and these people will save your life! You just have to check your ego and go. Best of luck to anyone reading this!!

I put myself into Detox at Steps Recovery in Payson. Hannah was incredibly supportive from the very first interaction, and well after I was done there. She made me feel more comfortable in my decision to get help, and was so understanding and took as much time as I needed to answer all the questions I had. I was super nervous and anxious.
The place I stayed in while detoxing was nice and cozy, I would recommend bringing your favorite blanket or pillow if that would make you feel more comfortable.
The staff was AMAZING! They really care about you and make sure you are as comfortable as possible. They will try to accommodate any requests you have.
I am so grateful I took that step in getting the help I know I needed that I couldn’t do on my own.
I can’t recommend Steps Recovery enough!
If you are even just thinking about it and unsure, give them a call and they will happily talk you through it and answer any questions you have.

I believe steps recovery Center in Payson was an amazing experience and help me get through some very tough issues. I left after graduation and I should have stayed longer. I just reached out to themto see if they would accept me again. The first response was that they are completely filled, 2nd message was asking what insurance I had, third was then telling me that their policies have changed and they cannot accept my insurance. So I asked which one of the excuses that they gave me are the problem and let them know that I just want help from them. And they did not get back to me after that. Super sad to know that such a strong program is not going to be in business much longer

* I want to add the staff members names later so they get recognition *

I was forced to go to Steps to detox before I went to inpatient at a different facility. I had been using benzodiazepines for 7 years (daily). When I found out I would have to detox, I was crippled with anxiety. I pictured detox to be some ghetto place, where I'm in a room with a dozen other people, separated by a privacy sheet.

I was genuinely concerned for my life and my safety. If you know anything about benzodiazepines, you know that they are one of only two drugs that can kill you from withdrawals. Not a lot of providers are informed on benzodiazepines. So naturally, I was afraid. I was afraid the staff wouldn't care for me. I genuinely thought I would be having seizures and be completely alone.

I arrived with my dad. I sat in his truck and I cried. I was too scared to go. I gained the courage and went to meet the staff. They showed me where I'd be staying, and to my surprise it was an apartment. Two rooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom.

I am a first responder. I requested to stay separate from non-military/first responders for my safety, and they were able to honor this request as long as possible.

The apartment was really nice, honestly. It was a five star hotel compared to what I was expecting and catastrophizing in my head.

While I was here, I have NEVER FELT MORE TAKEN CARE OF IN MY LIFE. In fact, I would probably go back for fun because nobody has ever made me feel like I matter so much. The nurses there are amazing. They are what makes this place great. They comforted me every night when I was shaking, anxious, restless and afraid with my withdrawals.

Even though they knew, and I knew we would probably never see each other again, they showed so much empathy towards me. I will never forget them. They are the reason I am still clean 6 months later. I could almost cry writing this. Thank you so much, to the nursing staff, for taking care of me. If I ever win the lottery, you're all getting a million bucks each.

Now, I will say that I was disappointed with the doctor in some regard, but impressed at the same time. His tapering schedule was on point. From everything I've read, most people take months, if not years to taper from benzodiazepines. I did it in 5 days. So, thank you Blake. However, I didn't get to see him once, even though I requested it a few times. I was told he was on "spring break". Well, I hate to tell you, but I don't give a **** if he's on spring break. When I went to Steps, I was told I would be able to see a medical doctor. This is really my only frustration but it didn't even matter in the end.

The food -- the food here is pretty good honestly. You have ENDLESS soda, ice cream, snacks in the fridge. They BRING YOU A MEAL every meal. I've never ate so good IN MY LIFE.

You will not have your phone, but it was a nice break honestly.

It can get a little boring so I would recommend bringing books, things to draw on, etc. They do have some coloring books.

The other great thing about this place, is they have streaming services on their TV. I think that some they might have paid for by Steps, but I can't remember. I logged into my own accounts when I first got there.

Anyways... I was going to give a 4 star because I was pissed about not seeing Blake but I am going to give it a 5 star because of how amazing of an experience I had. And don't forget, this experience was because of the CNA's, Nurses and those who cooked me and brought me every meal.

I journaled every day I was here... and I wrote such great things about the staff. I can't wait to post their first names and hope they get the recognition they deserve.

THANK YOU STEPS!!!!!!!!
