Completely dysfunctional. Spent the past 8 months trying to get help with unpaid EBT and Medicaid benefits. Had a capable and caring case manager finally. She lasted two weeks and then got transferred and now I have no case manager. Victor does not return my calls. Yvette does not return calls, and Jocelyn does not return calls. It would be so great if there was a social service agency that functioned for this area. Unfortunately, SCS is the only option for people living in Western Queens.

The most helpful caring people work at this noon profit. They were an immense help getting me through the Healthcare maze to get my alzheimer mom the care she needs. Can't thank them enough.

Sunnyside has been great with my mom. I have to give a big thank you to shelly who has always taken my call and provide me with good aides. I also want to say thanks to ms. Wilson who covers at times for shelly. This job I'm sure is high pressure and shelly has always been kind. Keep up the good work ladies.

I’m so grateful to Sunnyside Community Services! My 86yr mom calls Jocelyn, her angel! My elderly parents now have a desperately needed aggressive advocate to help get care & accurate billing for my dads treatment after a bad fall & Parkinson”s. My mom has somewhere to go & feels she is not alone 🙏🏽 The moral support & help to obtain & complete the right paperwork needed to coordinate Veterans, Medicare & insurance admin have saved our family $$ thousands & many hours of frustration. We cannot thank you enough!

Our experience with Sunnyside Community Services has been a positive one. Particularly with Shelly Ramkaran who is the coordinator for our mother, Rosa Ruiz. Shelly is very responsive and works with us to ensure our mother receives the quality of the care she deserves. Our mother is the most important person in our lives and Shelly truly understands this. She has demonstrated a very clear commitment to our mother's wellbeing and that has been evident in all our interactions with her. Shelly is by far the very best coordinator we've ever worker with!!! I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our aide, Maria Molina. I don't know what we would do without her!!! She cares for our mother the way she would her own and that is not easy to find these days. Maria engages with our mother in such a positive way and our mother responds in kind. Our mother always looks very happy and very well cared for whenever she is with Maria and that means the world to us as a family!!! We can't ever thank Shelly and Maria enough for all they do for our mother. They are to be commended for their caring, dedication, professionalism and commitment to providing an outstanding quality of care to their clients and an equally outstanding customer service experience to the families of their clients. We are extremely lucky and blessed to have them on our team!!!

Absolutely shamefully mismanaged, incompetent, and uncaring agency-- inappropriate for any seniors you know that need anything. They provide close to zero service. They collect all kinds of private personal and medical information from Seniors, and one of their case managers even admitted that even if they are told a senior is in the *direst* situation, they don't do anything about it whatsoever after being told about it. They also completely ignore seniors medical conditions that they are constantly requesting information about. The whole place is Absurd and Unethical.
Same case manager stated they mostly don't do anything but connect people with Meals on Wheels. Even that-- one of their supervisors said is not available to seniors in Queens. The only other thing any of their case managers said they ever do is sometimes provide a 3-hour per week sort of housekeeper, but if you look up the housekeeping agency they're using it's one star all the way on Yelp, with the most horrific reviews including some clients' relatives complaining that one of the housekeepers was having s-x with elderly uncle to get him to give her money, and even employees posting horrible reviews about what a horrible horrible company it is, etc.
Sunnyside itself has at least one case manager that is so cognitively challenged she seems like she needs to be under professional care.
So I guess if you too know a senior in need in Sunnyside Queens, you should let them know how severely and shamefully horrible this place is.
Just look at the breakdown of how many 1 star reviews of Sunnyside Community Services are on this site as well.

I got off on the wrong foot with this company due to some things I personally did not like but to each its' own. I wrote a review and personally received a call from a supervisor almost instantaneously. She let me vent and then went on to debate her issues in the most professional way, on why things were the way they were and I definitely see a clearer picture now. She helped me get an aid to cover hours that I needed. Their services ended after a month due to funding which is on the state and not them.

As of late, I am going through a rough time because of my other respite agency not being able to assist my 95 year old mother for an additional 2 weeks while I wait for permanent services to kick in. I called Andrea and left her a message on what's going on and she called me back the same day within hours to let her know they are going to assist me with these 2 weeks because they love the work that I am doing for my loved one. I just want to say thank you to Andrea from Sunnyside for coping with my stress and keeping it professional to show me that not all agencies are the same!

This is a great place for seniors. There are activities during the day and its a place where seniors can make friends and socialize. The community center also provides very affordable healthy lunches. All of the volunteers and people who work here are extremely friendly which provides a great atmosphere. They have bingo here daily and they take it very seriously. On Thursdays there is usually a DJ set up to entertain the seniors. So if you know any seniors who are home alone all day this is a great place to suggest for them to check out.
