This is 5 stars for the studio and community. 1 star for the owner whom everyone should avoid.

He has a living document of rules and financial penalties that he is aggressive about enforcing.

Someone I know was really into pottery and just starting her journey. She broke some rule and when trying to negotiate the penalty fee was called “entitled”, “disgusting” and threatened with a lifetime ban. I’ve seen the email receipts so it’s all real. She’s actually scared to post here so I’m doing it on her behalf.

It will be interesting to see if and how the owner responds to this review.

I started with an Intro class in June 2022 and became a member shortly after. It's a great community space and I appreciate the thoughtfulness that the owner and staff take with the studio. I really enjoy spending time here being creative! The owner also provides ample opportunities for growth, I haven't joined yet but it's exciting to know I can.

Without any wheel throwing experience, I took a beginner's class at Sunset Clay House. With the support (and practice!) of other community members and the studio managers, I've really tapped into my creative side which was a goal of mine for 2023!

The studio is always clean and supplies are well stocked. The vibe is chill and welcoming. It has become my happy place! What's also appealing is that the studio is open to members 7 days a week (8am until 10pm). It's been such a gift to have this space to be at with other folk who are constantly tapping into their creative energy too.

If I could rate 10/5 I would! I started as a student here and loved my class/the studio so much I’ve now been a member for almost 6 months. The studio is always so tidy and well organized and the staff is very helpful whenever I need help or have a question. They bisque and glaze every week so I never have to wait long for my finished pieces which is such a delight. Matthew the owner is incredibly responsive and feels so hands on, and offers the best prices on bags of clay I’ve seen. If you’re looking for a class definitely come give it a try here, Shannon is the sweetest! 🙂

I came to Sunset Clay House as a total beginner and immediately felt welcome. I started with a 4-week class and have since stayed on as a member. The community has a warm, inclusive atmosphere for pros, perpetual amateurs like me 🙂 and every interest in between. On top of that, the space itself space is efficient and well-run, and a delightful place to be.

I am so grateful I found this studio! I started with the month-long introductory class and it was phenomenal...they walked you through each step of the process and provided helpful tips along the way. I'm now a member and am absolutely thrilled to have that opportunity. The studio is consistently clean, well organized, and well stocked with all the supplies you need. I absolutely recommend to anyone interested in playing with clay!

I took the 4-week beginner class about a year ago and really enjoyed working with clay. I became a member and love the flexible hours where I can use the studio any time between 8AM - 10PM - 7 days a week. Would definitely recommend!
