Every time we come here we have to work an entire shift with their staff, they said the required wait time is 8 hours. Their full shifts are 12 hour shifts so you have to hang out with them at least most of their shift in order to be deemed worthy to be seen for treatment. I brought my daughter in because she had a suspected concussion due to a head injury she had at school. She was also complaining of chest pain, after working half our required 8 hr shift, they decided to give her ibuprofen after her second complaint of chest pain. Followed by an x ray of her chest, no her head where the concussion is, but of her chest. Not an EKG for her chest pain, but an x ray. The competence is a reflection of their hiring coordinator, making a c or d seems to be the requirement to work here, or having a God complex when controlling the flow of patients. Would not recommend, 0 stars. There are reviews here from family members of staff praising this facility as a life saving alternative but with the outstanding wait times it seems very unrealistic any child in need of critical care would come here for it. They will die in the waiting room because of the required 8 hour wait, short staffed is not an excuse, hire more QUALIFIED, COMPASSIONATE, UNDERSTANDING staff that genuinely is concerned with sense of urgency parents feel when their child is sick or may have a potential serious HEAD INJURY. Children are resilient and can't always communicate the way adults can to express what they are feeling, most of them have never felt what they are feeling and don't have the medical terminology vocabulary needed for the staff to process what the child is saying. Please visit a different facility for better, detailed, attentive compassionate care, because you will not find it here.

They're very rude. Very uncaring for kids family. If you don't come in an ambulance or without nothing too severe. They push you down until end of the line where there is no end. My daughter has major abdominal pain and has pancritis so GI doctor told her to get admitted to get treated well guess what her case is not that important. We have been just waiting to seen nlby anyone for almost 6hrs. Is that justice. When I go ask the unit their nurse is like your case is not severe. Seriously.....you be the judge.

have been waiting for more than 4 hours and they haven’t even seen my BABY. I’m leaving before they try to make me do the full 8-10 hours. They call a patient every 2 hours. better off diagnosing yourself from WEBMD. do not go unless you plan to be free for 8 hours & change shifts with the nurses…

This emergency department treats patients like they're a burden, especially if they assume you're on Medicaid or low income. I’m Hispanic, but that doesn’t mean I’m not paying out of pocket. I don’t even qualify for Medicaid. The level of disrespect and neglect here was one of the worst experiences of my life.

I brought my child in with a fever that has lasted over 8 days.( We are now on day 9 of fever) We had already seen his PCP (twice) and urgent care, and his doctor recommended we go to the hospital. But once we got there, we were completely dismissed.

Dr. Asha T. Morrow walked in and immediately brushed off the situation, saying she sees kids with fevers for 8+ days all the time—it’s “normal” to her. Our PCP had sent specific concerns for her to check, and she flat-out ignored them. When all the tests came back negative, she shifted focus to his slightly inflamed liver (which she said could be from the fever and the medication he’d been taking). Then she prescribed the same medication—acetaminophen and ibuprofen. What sense does that make?

She sent my child home with a 102.8° fever. He could barely walk due to body aches and chills, and they acted like we were wasting their time.

The nurses in check in are heartless. One of them just came up and took the wheelchair from my son. The entire staff acted indifferent and cold. Honestly, Ben Taub—a government-funded hospital—has treated us with way more care and professionalism.

This ER is a disgrace. If you don’t actually want to help people, why work in healthcare at all? This place needs serious reform—or should just shut down. It’s not helping anyone.

*The only good people I saw at the hospital was the guy that help you check in was amazing, the the professional xray, ultrasound, escort, and male nurse that withdrew my son blood for testing were great.

Do not get in your car and drive to this ER. Believe the reviews. Go somewhere else, anywhere else. Your local vet might be better. We waited almost 7 hours to be brought back to an ER room. We have been in the room for 2 hours before any treatment of any kind. And from what I read this is how this place works. Consistently over the years. Don’t come here.

terrible wait times depending on the prognosis during that day if youre lucky to get in fast to a room and diagnosed… Be prepare to wait 3-7 hrs at least …other than that the staff are pretty helpful when asking questions but its just the matter of waiting thats the only thing…not sure if its due to short staffing or whatever the case may be they need to hire more workers and pay them good!! i know this is not TX childrens having a poor service for a ER… all the reviews here are pretty much reasonable and it can be frustrating

Slowest freaking ER in the entire country and especially in the state of Texas. You could probably be seen quicker going to Ben Taub versus here. This place is a sorry excuse for a hospital especially supposedly one of the biggest children’s hospital. Hate to say it but this place needs to be shut down . With as long as the wait time I could have driven my child to Baylor Scott and white in Bryan College station and been seen and back at home before even seeing a doctor here. If I had any pull I’d close down this entire place. There is no way in the world for a patient to have to wait 8-10 hours plus to be seen. Who ever the CEO is and the board every single one needs to be fired. No wonder there are so many law suits and state wants to shut them down. It’s pathetic as can be. Do better or close down.

What an atrocity - this was THE WORST experience ever. We waited over 4 hours in this ER (after being told that it would only be a 2 hour wait). We were also told that a nurse would check in periodically with our child to monitor vitals. Not a single person approached us while we were there (we had more friendly conversation with the police officers in the lobby than the actual care team). There’s an evident lack of concern to treat visibly injured patients. I suppose my child would have to be on the brink of death to even get attention and care.

There are other emergency rooms in the area that can quickly triage and provide quality care and relief for your children - parents: don’t settle for less!
