Brendan Sailing is a phenomenal program that my grandson attended the summer of 2023 at St Mary’s College. Not only did he learn how to sail, he walked out with much more confidence in himself. The instructors, along with the volunteers were always working with the campers and engaging them in every aspect. We have attended many camps, but Brendan Sailing tops them all. We are thrilled to share our incredible experience with Brendan Sailing Camp for kids with learning differences. Our 12-year-old attended the Annapolis 2 week session this summer, and we couldn't be more pleased with the positive impact it has had on him.

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the camp's welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. The staff were not only highly skilled in sailing but also exceptionally trained in working with children who have diverse learning needs. They exhibited remarkable patience, understanding, and a genuine passion for helping each child succeed.

Our son has always faced challenges with traditional learning environments, so we were eager to find an activity that could boost his confidence and provide him with a sense of accomplishment. The individualized attention and adaptive teaching methods used at the camp made all the difference. The instructors broke down sailing techniques into manageable steps, using a variety of multisensory approaches that resonated with him. This not only made learning fun but also ensured he could grasp and retain new skills.

The structured yet flexible program allowed our son to progress at his own pace. The small group sizes gave him the support he needed while fostering independence. It was wonderful to see him build resilience, improve his problem-solving skills, and develop a newfound love for sailing.

One of the most significant changes we noticed was in his self-esteem. Each day he came home beaming with pride, eager to share his achievements and adventures on the water. On Parent Sail say he did not hesitate to take out all of his family members in attendance for a sail and beamed with pride! The sense of camaraderie and friendship he developed with fellow campers was heartwarming. He felt understood and accepted, which was incredibly important for his emotional well-being.

The camp's emphasis on positive reinforcement and celebrating small victories had a profound impact on him. He learned to overcome setbacks and celebrated each milestone, no matter how small. The experience taught him valuable life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and the joy of trying new things.

We are deeply grateful to Brendan Sailing for providing such an enriching and supportive environment for our son. The sailing camp has been a transformative experience for our son, and we highly recommend it to any family with a child who has learning differences. It's more than just a camp; it's a place where children can thrive, build confidence, and create lasting memories.

This is, hands down, one of the best activities that my grandchildren have ever taken part in, and that is saying a lot! The staff and volunteers are dedicated, kind, and upbeat. They know kids and how to deal with them, moodiness and all! The kids now have a love of sailing that'll stay with them forever. They are confident and genuinely happy when they get to take friends and family out on the boat, all by themselves, at the end of each session! Brendan Sailing Camp has been a truly transformative experience for our son. As a returning camper, he was so excited to go back—and with good reason. The camp provides a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where he’s able to grow in confidence, learn at his own pace, and build lasting friendships.

The counselors, both new and returning, went above and beyond to make every day fun, meaningful, and inclusive. Our son came home proud of everything he accomplished—from mastering sailing skills to stepping out of his comfort zone. The growth in his confidence and resilience has been incredible to witness.
