My daughter has been training at University of Sidekicks for over 2 years and has grown mentally, physically and as a leader while training under Master Nolte and her staff. Since developing her self defense skills I am now comfortable with my daughter traveling around the world without me, as I know she will be able to protect or defend herself if needed. Master Nolte is hands down the best instructor for kids! She is so patient, kind and fun! Our daughter has developed mentally and physically from the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class. She has confidence and the ability to protect herself. If you are looking for the perfect environment for your child to learn BJJ, this is the perfect place!

Renee Nolte spent an evening teaching our girl's youth group about personal safety and defense. It was an awesome class and she did a fantastic job keeping the girls engaged and involved. Her extensive experience and knowledge were impressive, yet she was able to present a class that was applicable and didn't overwhelm these beginners.

My family and I have trained at University of Sidekicks for nearly a year now. The programs, facilities and people there provide a great environment in which to learn from a top practitioner, Master Renee Nolte. She brings together a wide range of martial arts and life experience and a flexible personality that allows her to teach and build up the youngest to the oldest in skills that serve my family and me in so many ways. The BEST place for Martial Arts / Self Defense!
My 6-year-old daughter and I started training a few months ago. We have both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Master Nolte is THE BEST! She is highly accomplished: she is a 6th-degree Master Black Belt in Karate and has black and brown belts in various other martial arts as well. She is truly an amazing instructor. She is very encouraging (to both young and old students), has a very positive attitude, and is able to get her students to grow and live up to their potential. She is an excellent role model for my daughter.
We train 2x a week for 1 hour. After every class, she expects us to write down what we learned, so we retain the material better. She also has short videos available – I signed up for those and am happy I did. They make the learning process faster – they help to learn the techniques and to better understand why we do things. (It helps to watch them over and over again…)
We both earned our yellow belts today. I did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. She had given us a long list of all the things we would have to be able to demonstrate in Karate, Krav Maga, Keysi, and Modern Arnis (with escrima sticks and a bokken sword) – no Jiu Jitsu due to COVID-19. At our level, the test took about 2 hours: she wanted us all to show everything on the list. During the test, she gave pointers on how to improve on certain things, and then wanted us to improve on the spot. In my opinion, those are the best tests. When we were done, she asked each of us what we had learned today during the test. Then we had the belt ceremony, during which she said something personal to each of us.
We are so happy that we signed up for martial arts with Master Nolte and are looking forward to the journey ahead!

My son is in the Global Self Defense class, and he has thrived under the training that Master Nolte and the other instructors/coaches provide. My son identified an interest in martial arts, and University of Sidekicks has helped him grow as a person while also learning several martial arts. I highly recommend University of Sidekicks because the training environment is exceptional and the students develop comradery among themselves as they train and learn together.
