The horses are not cared for. I fed on Sunday for many years and many times they were out of grain for the elderly horses. My husband and I bought grain for these horses without compensation. Our family showed up to the stables and a horse would be tied and tacked up in the arena for the entire night. Multiple times I showed up with horses roaming the property out of their stalls. I gave over 4 years to make sure these animals were cared for and it progressively got worse. I heard that they were shut down due to the purchase of the property from a developer. I hope these horses are giving and/or bought from loving people. They deserve so much more. The barn manger caused many issues with the barn helpers, young children, causing custody battles and mental health checks. So much more could have been done here. But the fact remains, these horses and children deserved much more. To be transparent, I did ask to buy a horse I leased for about a year and was told I would be ā€œup for considerationā€ after I told the barn manager how I felt about the way things have been running there. We were potential owners investors.

It keeps me up at night that this facility is still in business. Buddy Coffey used us little girls as child laborers back in the day, and used horses as the carrot on a stick. I think I used to work more hours in a week at this place for a little Caesar’s pizza and 20-minute ā€œlessonā€ than I do at a full time job now as an adult. I don’t think I can write the ā€œP-wordā€ in this review without it getting taken down, but PLEASE do not allow your children here. I was 12 years old feeding horses with Buddy when he grabbed my thigh in the golf cart. I was 12 years old when Buddy made me trot around with my rear in the air for an entire lesson in ā€œtwo-point jumping position.ā€ No. I look back on all of these things now and I am so so disgusted and disheartened. He would yell at us and say the most inappropriate things. He is likely one of the most dangerous and disgusting human beings you can willfully allow your children around in that town. Please, choose ANY other stable.

Absolutely dreadful experience with TLC Stables for horse riding lessons. The instructors were disinterested and barely provided any guidance. The horses seemed neglected and poorly cared for, making the experience uncomfortable and unsafe. Facilities are outdated. Its been over a month and we still did't get the refund. for classes we paid but didn't use. Save your time and money - steer clear of this place for horse riding lessons.

What a great place to take your kids. Buddy (The owner) is a great guy to talk to. He has his young staff (cadets) help with showing the kids around and helping out with whatever needs to be done and his older staff are the ones doing lessons. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The stables are clean and horses appear to be very well taken care of. I think I’ll be taking advantage of the day camps for my daughters.

Nice facility, overworked horses.

TLC Stables has very nice facilities. Stalls kept clean. Horses in good physical condition. They provide turnout, indoor stalls, and indoor and outdoor arenas. The arena footing is uneven, however. Bad behaviors are punished rather than redirected. A sharp ā€œNo!ā€, or even sprayed with a hose, without seeing if there is another way to distract the horse. Their horses are severely overworked. Not only should most be retired (some lesson horses coming up onto more than 30 years of age), but they all are very sour. No fault to the horses, they are just too old to be used as lesson horses. As a ā€œbeginner barnā€, TLC should provide more appropriate horses for the job. The owner is very sharp toned and aggressive in his words. I’ve seen and personally experienced attempted biting, kicking, and stomping, as well a horses who won’t move, pinned ears, bared teeth, and ignored cribbing. Good instructors, but could improve. Overall, I would not recommend this barn.

We had our assessment last week, and it went great . We had two girls helping him with the riding, they were engaging and talked to him through out the lesson. He decided he wanted to continue with it. Made schedule for him to come back in. Which brings us to our supposed to be first lesson. We got there and no one seemed to know what was going on. Had another rider waiting. Only one horse was available. So my Son got up and started doing his ā€œlessonā€ with two young girls, who did not talk to him at all. Did not correct his hands on the reigns not once. Just slowly walked him around the ring for about 20 mins. Then got him off. When I asked why it was so short they said it was just a test ride. No it was his first real lesson. UNORGANIZED.

We don’t recommend this place. After several months of riding, we noticed things weren’t quite right. My children weren’t learning anything of value and several situations happened that shouldn’t have. My children had ridden horses for several years prior to coming to tlc and were confident on a horse. Upon leaving however, they were nervous and shaky on a horse. Buddy was very rude and disrespectful when situations were brought to his attention. I will never return nor do I trust this place with my children.
