I've liked it so far. You need to be proactive and treat college seriously. This isn't high school where things are spoonfed to you. It prepares you for real life where deadlines matter, effort matters, and sometimes, you need to use critical thinking skills to figure something out. I've mostly had fantastic teachers who are really passionate about educating. It's very online friendly which is what I do with an occasional trip to campus.

This school was not the best school to attend. The teachers did not help. I was in a Biology class. My teacher's lecture was hard to understand. I would spend hours on Pearson. An online program that you pay a hundred dollars. It was so unhelpful and made learning much harder. Some teachers do not care if you pass. They even told me that in class. You spend semesters on end trying to pass one class. Within my school life, I have never been to a school where teachers do not care about their students. I would not recommend this school as a first-time college student. It will be hard for you to get your degree. If you want to succeed and learn, you should consider another college. DO NOT you won't waste your timegoing here.

Awful experience when I returned as an alumni. Lost my father quite suddenly to suicide nearing the end of the semester. I tried to continue with my studies in the spring only to realize that I simply couldn't. I was basically, emotionally and physically unable to get out of bed, let alone attend class. They rejected my "exception to the refund" request and failed me for the semester even after providing all the necessary documents. Horrible institution and horrible administrators. What a shame that it's the only community college in thr Reno /Sparks area.

I went here for 2 years and my advice to you if you or your child is disabled is to go somewhere else if you need accommodations. They tell you that they have all these accommodations but they're lying to you.
When I got registered and everything and met with the DRC, I was told that I couldn't have extra time because it "changes the curriculum." The "accommodations" they do have are completely useless as well.
Unless you want to be stressed out to the brink of insanity without your accommodations, go somewhere else.
This review is only getting 3 stars because the professors I met were nice people and the fries were good.

tmcc is a good place to start, i got through my classes and received my AA degree! however, tmcc academic advisors DO NOT warn you about filing appeals. example: time management, and low gpa below 2.0. with this being said, if you have to file an appeal, and you have gone through fasfa for a pell grant, you cannot receive that grant until you file the appeal. i have one class left to take to receive another degree, and an academic advisor decided to tell me this last minute before my class starts. in which i did not know that i cannot get my pell grant, and that i have to py out of pocket to take my LAST class. my summer class starts in two weeks, and they just now decide to notify me of this situation. could have told me a month in advance; i have been speaking to financial aid back and forth touching base about my pell grant and they did NOT onve bring this up to me! instead i get a nasty email informing me about the appeal that needs to be filed. with that being said, tmcc financial aid and academic advisors are keeping me from completing my last class so i can graduate all because they could not reach out to me, and tell me themselves about what is going on.

The school always says that its open yet when you actually go there, no one is there to assist you on campus, absolutely no staff in sight. Even the school phone does not pick up which is very unacceptable because some people have no sort of transportation and have to walk there and when they come to find out that no one is there they have to walk all the way back home which is such a waste of time as well as no respect to their time as other people have other places to go please change the hours and do better.

I've been going to TMCC for since 2021, and I am so happy with it! I work part-time on campus while taking classes, which saves on transportation. Campus is small enough to navigate quickly between classes, and there's lots of well-kept plants and colorful flowers.
All the employees and students I've met have been very nice and helpful too! Especially in the DRC, Financial Aid Office, and VRC. The buildings are gradually getting updated as well, though some of it is still a bit old fashioned.
The food at Café Verde and the Coffee Bar is pretty awesome, but prices have been getting higher so I'd recommend budgeting when you want to get something hot to eat. Vending machines are all over campus though if you need a quick snack.
As for studying, the Learning Commons (TMCC Dandini Library) is awesome! There's always study rooms available on the first and second floor, and research is a breeze.
