One of the best preserved historical military sites here in the United States. The movie in Hanger 2 is awesome. When you visit the airfield and its buildings, it feels like you’re stepping back in time. I visited on a Saturday and there was only two other families there. Every room I walked into I was the only one in there so I was able to really immerse myself in the settings, sounds, and smells. You can not only go into all the different offices in the hangars, but you can also climb the old control tower. The staff are helpful and friendly. It’s free to visit but I would recommend leaving a donation. The site also has a nice little gift shop.

Very under appreciated Museum covering an even more under appreciated group of young men who fought so hard for their country.

The museum has some nice delivery approaches including old style telephones you can pick up to hear the actual pilots sharing their stories in their own voices. Also be sure to go in the rooms along the hanger wall that display signs that we can enter.

Free to enter and free parking. Two btws: first, the designated parking area is up a hill and a bit of a walk. Not sure for those of limited mobility how they arrange to drive down. Also, the hornet warning is legit: they were inside the control tower and buzzing outside as well.

Don’t hesitate visiting - just go, it’s a must! Tour the original grounds and buildings where the Tuskegee Airmen trained, read about their accomplishments, and see the planes they flew. Visiting almost feels as though you are being transported back in time. The exhibits are so well thought out and informative - you are definitely in for a very valuable and meaningful history lesson.

Be prepared for lots of outside walking. The Alabama sun can be very hot so if visiting during the summer months wear sunscreen, bug spray and take lots of cold water. Wear comfortable walking shoes. There’s lots to see, hear and experience so I would allow a minimum of 2-3 hours to get through and even longer if you truly want to take it all in.

Hands down a must visit for every one (all ages), even if you aren’t a huge fan of aviation (I’m not). Tuskegee University is a few minutes’ drive away where there is a Legacy museum you can visit as well.

Fantastic experience! The displays are fabulous and well kept. The orientation video in Hangar 2 is insightful. If I had a critique, it would be the long walk from the parking lot to the hangars, while at the same time, I appreciate that they don't want to spoil the feeling that this air field was put out in the middle of nowhere like a second thought. I read a review from 2 years ago that the parking lot is a mess. That's no longer true. It was in prime condition when we visited May, 2024.

This was a great museum to visit and learn about the Tuskegee Airmen. What honorable men they were and to see the obstacles and challenges they overcame was quite moving. We had seen the movie and wanted to visit the museum to get more in depth information. Worth checking out.

Stopped by for history never been was a great moment to learn about all that was involved during those hard times for everyone. Amazing what these men did for our country and stood up for their civil rights thereafter with Martin Luther King.

What a great visit....spent almost 2 hrs and could have stayed longer. The layout and stories were a great reflection on where we had been and are today. Very well done
