My son had a rough Second grade with a new teacher who didn’t seem to teach or communicate at all with parents regarding student progress. As a result, we put our son in Tutoring Club after second grade over the summer so he wouldn’t fall behind. Over the last two years, no matter what his teachers do at school, he is getting extra learning.

Even if he scored poorly on quizzes or homework assignments or group projects, we had faith that he was still learning because Tutoring Club was also independently tracking his progress.

Throughout 4th grade, he has struggled with a teacher and thinking that teacher’s pets have turned the teacher against him and that his grades are suffering as a result. However, he just received the highest practice SBAC score for ELA of all the students in 4th grade.

Thinking it could be a fluke, we had him evaluated at Tutoring Club as well and his result there mirrored his school results. Attention to his regular school work (the school work parents are permitted to actually have any control over like completing iReady lessons or vocabulary words) and his year-round tutoring (no break over the summer) has now made him a 4th grader reading at a 7th grade level. He is at grade level or higher in math as well. And his school teachers are forced to contend with their lower grades of him and his extremely high test results. It takes time and patience, but supporting his regular school with Tutoring Club has emphasized the importance of education on our son and that knowledge of a subject is superior to other people’s poor judgments of you.

I recommend Tutoring Club of Green Valley in Henderson. My experience has been rewarding. The tutors are patient and make the atmosphere comfortable; not stressful. The program pace moves with the understanding of the student. A thorough understanding of basic academic fundamentals like math, and literacy are essential. This takes time. I don’t believe school alone can achieve this, nor are their programs designed this way. My student has been at Tutoring Club for 2 years through the summers. I think tutoring has made a positive difference, in his confidence and willingness to study. I made the right decision for my student.
