I came in with chest pain and coughing up blood. I waited 4 hours and was refused updates from anyone I asked. Given attitude when I was patient and simply seeking an update. I left with worse pain and coughed more blood up in my car. I WAS NEVER SEEN. I WAITED FOR 4 HOURS. I would recommend this place if you want to die in the waiting room. Unacceptable treatment. If I end up with something detrimental I will be sueing for medical malpractice

Worst ER I've ever been to. Disgusting pretty sure I picked up more trash out of habit than their entire cleaning crew did. My 88 year old father has been in there several times and every time it is a nightmare. He was carted in via ambulance at 9:30pm last night for congestion and dangerous o2 levels. At 5am we went home and left him there because we got told they wanted to admit him for a day or 2. It's now 3pm (17 hours) and we called for an update. His tests were done at 3 am. HE IS STILL SITTING IN THE ER and the nurse can't be bothered to have anyone update us. Ffs have one of the interns read a damn note if you're that busy.

Go to crouse. Go to st Joe's. Go anywhere but here.

Be prepared to waste your entire day and money here. Average wait time is 8+ hours and they don't do much for your illness. I was there since 10am and didn't get seen until 7pm. They keep only 1 receptionist at the desk, and she is nonchalant and does not seem to care much for your ailment/concern. The waiting room is filled with sick and frustrated patients. I even had a strange experience with the patients there (one patient was flirting with me which made me uncomfortable). Some patients were so tired and hungry from waiting that they even ordered pizza delivery, ate their pizza, and still had a long time to wait before getting called in. I am not kidding. The doctors are ok, but they don't take you seriously and they don't do much for you. For the amount of time they had me waiting, the doctor only saw me for maximum 3-5 minutes, not even. If you do the math, barely 1% of your time here is spent on the actual patient care, tests, and doctor visit. I wish I was exaggerating, but I am not. They make you wait more than 8 hours and they charge an insane amount, $100 per ER visit despite having insurance. I thought SUNY Upstate would be professional since they are a university hospital with many resources, but I was wrong. The management is really poor and they don't know how to triage patients efficiently. You are better off going to a different hospital ER that actually cares about you and doesn't make you wait the entire day on purpose.

Had one of my drivers in the waiting room on heavy drugs from the urgent care for a back injury and they sat him in the waiting room in a chair for hours. He needed a CT of his back and they just left left him. I called and was hung up on but a nurse and a supervisor? He was passing out because of the medication in the waiting room and they didn't care!! I was a nurse was for 35 years, that is why I got out!! Nobody cares anymore!!

If you need to go to a hospital I recommend you DO NOT GO HERE. Was there for 10 hours for something that I've had before several times in my life and knew what it was, the doctor I was assigned did not listen nor care after I had said this has been happening to me for over a decade all they had done was take my money waste my time after telling me what test they where going to run and proceeded to only give me one and not even attempt to run more to see what was wrong the nurses are excellent and seemed to be the only people who where genuinely concerned and empathetic for my well being meanwhile the doctor disregarded and ignored everything I had said and actually seemed quite joyous about not having to treat me anymore. After those ten hours I left with no diagnosis no antibiotics and no sleep and nothing answer 10 hours I will never get back. I have never been more disappointed in people who have studied and are employed to help me and others. Incredibly frustrating experience

7hrs in ER and still haven't been seen. Exuce after excuse . Could stroke out right here and don't think they'd even notice. This place used to be the best around. Right down the shitter and probably won't get any better

The pediatric emergency room has the HORRIBLE service!! The waiting time in the room for the doctor is over 4 hours!!! DO NOT go there. The nurses and staff doing nothing!!! They didn’t even offer any water or snacks for that time! Poor kids suffer with pain and fever and nobody care. Syracuse Upstate Hospital you can do better job for your patients!!

4 hours sitting on a bed in a hallway not even seen by a DR yet. Call nurses, get ignored.. go to nurse desk I'm told there's nothing they can do about I have to wait for a DR to pick me. What h DOZENS of people come and go AFTER ME. Meanwhile I'm in here in PAIN concussions, a dislocated jaw. I have not received any pain meds, haven't been visited by any nurses or DRS since I've been in this bed at 12:30 pm . Currently 3:30 pm was informed I would need X-rays at 12:30 by the "nurse" who sat me in the bed" who also missed my vein, put me in more pain, couldn't get an IV so just left. All at 12:30! I arrived in the waiting room at 11:30 am. This is ridiculous, I've asked to speak to a head nurse and nothing.

Go up
