I did the first part of my process online. Once I got to the site the office greeted me and nicely explained how to checked in. I had an appointment. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

From the moment the ( very pleasant) security officer guided us to the kiosk to the time we left took 15 minutes.
The clerk ( Nicole ) was professional, helpful and quickly processed our needs.
Not at all what we expected, this was a shining example of doing customer service correctly.

This PLACE is an absolute spot on example of our fine Goverment system; The customer service reps are an absolute JOKE! There tones are often fustrated, trying to hurry your call through and they feed in accurate information this office needs to be restructured meaning every person properly retrained. A person should not have to call multiple times and get a different story each time when it’s a serious business matter and do you notice how they don’t give their names? So they can avoid accountability for their actions. If you have an issue prepare for games cuz I can promise you will lose temper and patience with inaccuracy of some these rep who so wonderfully work there!

I am very pleased with my visit to sign up for social security. I had called for an appointment in June, only was on hold for about 5 minutes and then got scheduled for an appointment about a month later that suited my schedule.

Check in was easy and I only waited about five minutes before I was called. The gentlemen that I talked to was very cordial, professional and knowledgeable. He set me up with everything I required, answered my questions and provided me with his direct phone number in case I needed further information or to make changes.

I don't get all the bad reviews. I called to make an appointment and it rang 3 times. A lady answered and was very helpful. Made the appointment plus she answered all my questions. Went to appointment and waited maybe 15 min. The whole process took maybe 20 min. Was back home in less than an hour. Great service if you ask me.

Have important questions regarding replacing a lost card. It's Thursday afternoon after lunch time. When I call the phone literally rang for 5 minutes, no answer, no answering service, no recording, no voicemail, nothing. EXACTLY what I would expect from a government office in Elmira. It's 2016, and they don't even have a damn answering machine. It's absurd, unprofessional, and obviously incredibly inconvenient. I see several other poor reviews as well, but clearly no changes made. Flat out shameful.

If i could pick 0 stars I would! Have called every day for over a week. No answer, just keeps ringing forever. Have been calling for the past 20 minutes straight and still nothing. Been waiting over a year for an update on an appeal and all they give me when i go there (because they dont answer the phone) is "we don't know you have to keep waiting ". Really need some new staff or something. Completely unhappy.

2 hour 40 minute hold time on the phone, I just need an appointment about my SSI application, I could swear they never seem that busy when you're actually in the office. 🫠
