The UPC has well trained people waiting to assist families in navigating school policies for IEP and 504 meetings, transition options, and more. They offer classes monthly on disability related classes that you can attend online or in person. Just get on the mailing list to get the links. Call them to find out who the consultant for your geographic location is. They work with districts, charter and any school. I've worked with two consultants in meetings and have loved both. I've had calls with others when mine were on vacation and I've never been disappointed with their knowledge and skill level.

Utah Parent Center is a great resource for anyone with a family member with special needs. They were there for us over 20 years ago when our son was born with a rare syndrome. Through the years when we have encountered roadblocks whether it was with the school district or finding services they were there to give helpful advice or guide us to appropriate resources and people. I have referred several people to their office for help. I have taken advantage of classes on guardianship and other things that would benefit our family. This past weekend I was able to share information from their website on an issue another family was dealing with. Utah is very blessed to have this resource in our state. Highly recommend The Utah Parent Center and their amazing staff and volunteers!

The UPC has been invaluable to our family. We have kids with 504s and kids with IEPs. We have needed help working with schools as well as just learning what each of these items are. The volunteers have been knowledgeable and supportive. They have helped us so much. We have been better prepared for meetings and calmer as well. Thank you!

I have called the Utah Parent Center with questions about school, teachers, and parent education classes. I always receive great advice and/or clarification about the issues we face in the Special Education program. Knowing that the people with whom we speak have personal experience as well as training is invaluable! I recommend them to other parents trying to navigate the Special Needs world.

They don’t help it’s always a waiting list to get on a waiting list you have to fit inside a very very narrow criteria. Look have a child fully disabled can’t walk talk or eat on their own doesn’t fit! Utah sucks for disabled help but some lame excuse for a reply will wash my comment away. No one cares for families truly suffering. No one cares about kids with disabilities they push them off to unseen corners.

I, and sometimes my family, have attended several classes or events offered by the Utah Parent Center and have found them to be both helpful and low stress. I love the welcoming atmosphere and helpful information we have gathered over the years. I only wish my schedule would permit me to attend more of the offered classes throughout the year.
