We've been sending our kids to Wren's Nest for several years now, and Willowell for summer camps, and it's been foundational for our family and our lives in Vermont.

The staff at Wren's Nest truly cares. I can sense it every time I'm on the grounds of the school. Our children are treated with tenderness and true respect, and a space is created to allow the kids to grow with a sense of pride, dignity and self-esteem that shines through when they return home.

It's such a delicate age to be 3, 4, and 5...the world is still so full of brilliance and mystery. I've noticed that the teachers at Wren's Nest enable that sense of magic to continue, while creating architecture around notions of self-reliance, privacy, and kindness in a manner that encourages growth without sacrificing the precious wonder they still have access to.

I wish I had a program like this when I was young! I'm so thankful my children get to be nurtured and held in this way.

It's one of the truly radiant and beautiful things we've stumbled upon in Vermont. I'm beyond grateful this organization exists. Every child deserves this level of care and attention.

When we hike, or spend any time in nature my 4 & 6 year old point out the species of mushrooms they see, they speak of bacteria that grow on the different mosses, they decipher between types of evergreens based on needle size. Downed trees become steamboats or airplanes. Rain, wind, snow can’t stop their little feet from pattering all over the forest enjoying being part of the great outdoors. They’ve become independent, resilient little team players & it’s so beautiful. It’s everything I wanted to gain from a school experience. Thank you willowell & wrens nest for understanding youth & what truly helps our children flourish.

Both our boys went to Wren's Nest with Katie McEachen through Willowell. The program was fun and engaging. We value outdoor time, and curious exploration as a means to understanding. They are sweet and soft, while allowing kids to be adventurous and a little wild! Loved the music and storytelling, cooking with wild foods, and winter olympics. Thanks for helping our kids love and care for the outdoors!

The Walden Project is an amazing program that's offered out of the public school. It's a great catalyst for change and a visionary approach to education. As an alum I can't say enough about how it planted the seeds of growth in my life. Also the summer camps that are offered are awesome, with a very dedicated staff!

Willowell is award winning and visionary - integrating humanities studies with the natural world AND providing inspiration and encouragement to teens who cannot learn sitting in chairs but who need to be physically engaged in learning. Millions and millions of teens who fail in regular school who would excel if they had access to programs modeled after Willowell's Walden Project.
