3 weeks ago I visited this lovely yarn shop. It is my guilty pleasure every time I am in Reno. I've been a customer for over 3 yrs now. Not a HUGE customer but nevertheless it is still a place I love to visit, gather supplies and accessories.
This last time I went, the customer service wasn't the focal point. It was very disappointing. The associate said she had no time to wind the hanks of yarn I had purchased (3 hanks), it was 3:40pm on a Sunday afternoon. Although I thought she had time, I found it distasteful of her to be dismissive about it & assume I could just wind it myself.
I love this lil shop & hope to keep visiting & shopping in the future, but not at the cost of paying extra money to now have my yarn wound elsewhere.
It seems trivial, but these things matter and make a difference.

Such cute yarn!!! I got several skeins of cotton to make dishcloths for charity. Everyone was so nice and it was a very homey atmosphere.

I was passing through Reno on a road trip and wanted to check out the new to me yarn shop. I found it to be a very welcoming place! They carry a good selection of big names like Malabrigo and Brooklyn Tweed as well as indie dyers like Knitted Wit and Laneras. (I think I need that sweater...) Also, don't forget to bring your knitting and stay a while to chat! See you on the next trip.

I have enjoyed visiting Yarn Refuge for a number of years! It is a lovely, welcoming, and well-stocked shop in Midtown Reno with a great selection of fiber, needles and creativity, and a very knowledgeable staff. Owner Terry is a wonder! Highest recommendation based on many visits.

I recently moved to Northern Nevada and visited this yarn shop last weekend. I was warmly greeted by the owner, Pam, who guided me through the shop and explained the types of yarns on each wall. Yarn Refuge offers hand-dyed yarns as well as offerings from mainstream vendors along with many notions and supplies. I was in my happy place shopping in this store and will be my go-to for all of my knitting needs. I will be joining the Thursday knit nights very soon. Don't miss this beautiful LYS if you live in Reno or are just passing through!

I was on a family road trip when I finished my project. With still 9 hours still left to go I was desperate for some yarn to start my next project. Yarn Refuge was one of the few stores open on a Sunday and my family gave me 10 minutes to dash in and grab what I could! I went straight to an employee, a lovely woman named Diane. I was a bit flustered but she helped me right away find the perfect yarn for my pattern. There was a charming circle of ladies knitting and talking, the store is beautiful and well lit, filled with an amazing selection of yarn. I could’ve stayed all day! As it was, I had only 15 minutes there but it was a magical 15 minutes. Thank you for creating such a wonderful environment and being so helpful! ❤️

Lovely local shop! Pam (?) was very sweet and answered my questions. I was looking for roving and felting needles. She offered information and tips for me, since I'm starting this hobby. There are chairs in the middle of the shop for crafters to work and the walls are lined with all kinds of yarn. I will definitely be going back!
